How can I recover my administrator password for Windows XP. I seem to have forgotten it!?

I don't want to reinstall the operating system and I am not overly savvy with Dos. I have a lot of files I can't access and I need help!

look for a software called "OPHcrack" (I think that's how it's spelled) it'll let you access any windows system without the password.

    Edit: Here's a link: http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

If you did give an administrator password, I'm quite sure you have to reinstall the OS. However, if you aren't exactly sure even if you choose a password for it or not and the windows asking for it, try typing "Enter" with no password (blank password which is system default).

I have been in this case.

To reset password, you need Hirent CD boot.Insert it into your CD Rom drive, from the boot menu, select 'boot from Cd rom instead of hard disk and wait for a moment, you must follow the instructions to reset password.use keyboard to select command.
