Is the journey more important than the destination?

Is HOW we travel through life, the way we touch other lives more important than where we end up at the end, heaven, hell. or other?

Update:

Why do you think that?

The journey is certainly more important. The here and now is all that we can be certain of, and all too often, people will trade enjoyment of the here and now for the PROMISE of a destination that may not truly exist. What proof have we got that there is a heaven? What proof have we even got that tomorrow will be there? We could die any moment and never reach the destination that we have been trading our happiness for in the present.

Life is far too short and uncertain to live in the future. Why trade the enjoyment of the feel of the grass between your toes, or the smell of rain on the pavement, or the feel of a lover's touch, for something that may never come? If we live for the future we cannot truly appreciate the present.

You must have just caught one of Joyce Meyer's videos on TV? She was just remarking how the journey is more important than the Destination, in the sense that "IF you know what your destination (meaning Heave) is, then you should concentrate and enjoy the journey. If you're miserable and frustrated in your journey to reach God and His Commands, then you're doing something wrong, or you need to evaluate your motives or plan for the journey.

Even if you think in terms of a vacation with a journey. Wouldn't the planning, and waiting and anticipation of the vacation be just as more fun and a big part of the vacation as the actual being there? I know it has been for us for the past 37 years of planning.

The journey is the most important part and dont worry about the destination cuz god takes this into consideration.. Ur destination is dependent on your journey

For example: If you go to church every sunday and volunteer and etc and only go so u can end up in heaven then if i was God i would never let u into heaven... how do i even know if u really believe in me??

But if you go around and disobey your parents, act wild, etc in the longrun your just enjoying the life god gave you! I would take into consideration if u disobeyed any of my ten commandments but if its not that bad then i wud prolly let this person into heaven..

As long as your nice to the people around you and can consider yourself to be a good person idk wat else you have to worry about

The journey is how we reach our destination. We all end up in the same place. Some just take longer getting there. Neither is important. Both just ARE.

Yes, because we are here to learn. How you live, who you are, is really all you have. Every time you interact with another person, you have the opportunity to make their lives a little better or a little worse. This is the only lasting thing that we can do here.

Think about the alternative. What would be the point of life, if all that mattered is what happens when it ends.

I believe it is both very important, although I think people like Jehovah's Witnesses 'sacrafise' their lives to get to paradise.Oh,and actually depends what is the destination,as you called it.If you know for sure it will be heaven, you will try to get there and obey 'principles. But if you think you will just 'get back to what you were at the beginnig (a sand:)',you can do whatever you want to...it is all up to you

ps.I am not sure this is what you have asekd for but I am feeling poorly:D sorry

Yes. How we treat other people, how we tackle the hurdles/ problems/ situations along the journey, are more important than the destination itself.

We don't know what happens to us after we die. We all have our own ideas.

Think of it, when a person dies, all you have to remember them from are their actions and how they touched your lives. Wouldn't you want to be remembered as the nice young lady who asked too many questions?

    Yes, my friend, it is!

Many things in life are worth slowing down and experiencing!

The list is too long to name them all, but the best part is bringing others to Jesus. Unlike other faiths, it IS very! Important to reach out to anyone along the way and teach them the Word, and give them a chance to experience the Best of Why they were born!

The destination for us all is the same, death. We only have the journey in this life.

That depends on what the destination is.
