My Christmas tree is not absorbing water,is that very bad?
I put my Christmas tree up 3 days ago and filled the tree stand with sugar water. It has the cuts in the trunk to help it absorb water, but the stand is still almost full. The needles are still very green and soft.I have never had this happen before, with past trees I have had to fill it every day or every other day.Should I be concerned about it drying out or is this normal? Thanks in advance!

Cut 1-3 inches off the butt of the tree. It probably developed resin... This will make it harder to absorb water and so your tree could die faster - and dry faster, which could make it a fire hazard.
Here's an article on basic tree care that might help you (link):

It might've been chopped down earlier than trees you've bought in the past. Either that, or else too much time passed between when the cuts were made and when you put it in water. It'll make it through the season ok, it'll just start loosing needles a few days sooner than you're used to, and it'll be drier when you finally throw it out.

Yes it is bad. It will dry up like no tomorrow!
With xmas trees, they will sap over (the bottom will close up/scum over if that makes sense) and not be able to take any water in.
I know it's kind of a hassel, but you have to re-cut (to re-open the pores on the bottom) your xmas tree bottom or it will just keep getting dryer. Or maybe try cutting holes on bottom/near bottom (still in the place where you put the water though) to take water in elsewhere.
Whenever you buy an xmas tree, alwayss get a fresh cut! (even if they just re-cut the bottom off, it's the same thing)

a minimum of they have something that resembles a tree, the position I stay something that resembled Christmas isn't allowed to be submit. we've light fixtures yet there clean uncomplicated bulb light fixtures wrapped around the present bare branched tree's. We use to have a large signal interior the centre of city that reported Merry Christmas in enormous colored light fixtures, it now reads welcome in white light fixtures. there's no Christmas tree, no Christmas themed light fixtures of any type. that is pathetic, apparently so that they don't insult those who don't have fun Christmas. Even the santas grotto formed as a toy production unit has been replaced with an igloo formed shed. i'd take a metallic framed tiddy tree, over the cr*p we've.

did you recut the trunk before you put the tree in water? If not, the trunk had dried out and will not take on water. Forget the sugar, it does nothing for the tree...replace with plain old water with about 1/4 teaspoon of chlorox in it...good luck.

I don't think u need to freak out, I think it just might not be thirsty yet. Wait 2 more days, if it still doesn't absorb the water then u might have to worry about something.

Well, once it is chopped down it dies so why do we need to give it sugar water anyway? THERE IS NO POINT!
