What do you think about 2012?

I have always been a woman of faith, and most things do not shake me up. To be honest the idea of 2012, in the past, I thought was ridiculous because no man knows the time of Jesus' return as it says in the Bible; however, I do believe something major is going to happen that day. What do you think?

This will be the end of the age of fear or dark ages

This will be the beginning of the age of love or the golden ages

Lots of changes will happen and a complete make over of how society runs.

    Peace and love everyone

Why 2012 is not the end of the world

I think that 2012 is going to be just another year.

One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world.

Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

For more information, about what Catholics believe about the end of the world, see: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newsletters/CU/ac0...

    With love in Christ.

I am not sure but if there happens to be a peace treaty signed with Israel during the month of June 2009 (3 1/2 years before December 2012), I might start getting excited about December 2012.

Nothing will happen. No one can predict the future, even if you are religious, surely you would know who is capable of predicting the future (e.g. Jesus). Therefore, there would be no logical reason to trust anyone else on this issue (e.g. not Jesus).

If something did happen, it will be a random event of the year, that seems big at the time, but only will stay big if the media decide to make it that way.

I'm really not sure to be honest with you. I fear the coming years in a way I never have feared anything. I don't want to see the destruction and to see people suffer. I don't want to suffer and or my family at that.

Though I do believe I will go to heaven one day. But will I make it in the marriage feast? That I don't know.

But what is weird / odd to me is that so many Christians base the end times to the Mayan Calendar when they weren't believers of Christ or our God, due to they didn't continue the calendar after that.

So I guess I just don't know enough about it. But something major is going to happen on Jan 22-23. Powell said so and he also said "We don't know what it is but something major is going to happen." I guess we will find out how bad it is really going to be.

The 2012 predictions are nonsense. Christians shouldn't believe such pagan ideas. Nothing major will happen in 2012. It's a year for the Summer Olympics in London, an American presidential election, etc., not some big change or disaster.

The major change will be the change of the Age from Pisces to Aries. The religions have been created to suite the new Age. Every 2,160 years there is a new age. (see precession of the equinox). The bible is mistranslated to say the end of time. If you look at the literal translation it means Aeon or Age. That's all, its that simple. What happened when the year 2000 came? nothing.

hya, You are a women of faith.. stay in the word and be ready . You know that is our best defense, it will be revealed to us what is to come and what we need to do to prepare , it says in the Bible that the Holy spirit will reveal to us so we will KNOW the anti christ and KNOW when Jesus returns.

I am not concerned myself I am a bit excited to see what is revealed to us. You just keep being the faithful servant you have been love like you never loved and rejoice everyday for the blessings we have my friend, and know that God is good and just.

(Don't buy into the fear that Satan will try and sway you with )

    [thank-you chick-a-deester i won't waste my money :-) ]

    ( Mythos ....Dec. 21st 2012)

    peace

    trust

Same as all the other years.

Simply put -- the Mayans did not have the technology to make an eternal calendar (neither do we, only a perpetual calendar). Had their society and culture survived, they may have eventually continued their calendar past the year 2012, but unfortunately it didn't, and they never had the chance.

It's nothing to worry and fret about.
