How to avoid hangovers?
Okay, I'm going to a friends party tomorrow night,
And we are going to drink a lot.
I get hangovers often, so what is best to do before hand to stop getting one, or such a bad one?
Should I avoid anything in particular?
I've heard to avoid dark drinks?
Thanks

make sure you eat before you drink, it's best to eat something starchy like bread or pasta, but not with tomato sauce. You should really match every single drink with water. Hangovers are mostly from dehydration, so drink as MUCH water as possible. When you get up in the morning, DON'T lay around feeling crappy. Take a tylenol and hop in the shower immediately, and then eat a starchy breakfast like pancakes. Be sure to eat a banana, and drink some tomato juice with breakfast, too. Gross, I know, but it works.

Obviously, not drinking is really the only real way to avoid a hangover. If you're gonna drink, make sure you eat well beforehand. Snack during the party and drink water in between drinks. Before you go to bed, drink a 1/2 gallon of water and take 2 Tylenol- this should prevent dehydration and the headache the next morning. Most importantly, have a good time and DON'T DRINK & DRIVE!

Try "RU21" or "Chaser" products. I swear by them and to this day i will always carry some in my purse.
I try to eat something with some protein before i start to drink and then stay away from the fruity sweet drinks. Some fruity are ok as long as they are not sweet - pineapple juice w/ vodka is a good example of fruity but not overly sweet (unless the bartender adds simple syrup).
Also - try not to mix alcohol - if you start the evening drinking (for example) Light rum, then stick to drinks with light rum all night.
we had a party where I had Johny Walker all night and at the end of the night in a moment of craziness someone handed me a shot of Sanbuca and that was the end of me! several shots later there was no pill, amount of carbs or water that was going to help me. It was all down hill from there and in usual fashion for me i ended up loosing several articles of clothing and diving in the pool!

1. Drink when you get up in the morning.
2. Drink twice as much water as you do alcohol.
3. Take the perscribed amount of tylenol before passing out.
4. Don't drink so much, then you won't get a hangover.

Excellent question, because once you have one, you really can't get rid of it, but they are avoidable!
I suggest you check out this Liquor Live article for some tips:

Basically, stay away from those sweet drinks, stay well nourished, drink plenty of water, and if it is okay/ safe for you, take a non aspirin before you go to bed. Hope this helps!

A lot of hangover symptoms are caused by dehydration I think so drink lots of water before during and after you drink.

Avoid fruity drinks, don't mix your alcohol, eat, drink some water in between drinks. The real way to avoid hangovers is to limit your intake of alcohol.
