How many people will a 6kg frozen whole turkey feed for Xmas lunch?
Thanks for all of the answers, it is to feed 6 adults, two 10 year olds (with tiny appetites) and a toddler so I think we will have enough to go around xx

I'm feeding 8 people with 4kg, so you should get 12 people out of 6kg. Easily.

OK ~ well the first thing is to make sure that the turkey is well defrosted before you do anything like cooking!
Then for the size you have, and if its cut properly [take the legs off first and put to one side, ] then slice the breasts [an electric craving knife is great for this although not used by the pros.] you should get enough on a serving dish for at least ten to twelve people.
Carve the legs after, and place around the sliced breast, so that people can help themselves to a little of the dark meat, not everyone likes it, but its a great way to serve it up.

Roughly, you will lose 50% through cooking and carcass, but that still leaves 250gms each for 12 people. This might sound low, but are there any children, as this could mean there would be larger portions for Adults. Also, by the time you add Potatoes, Sprouts, Roasties, Peas etc, there are sure to be platefuls all round.

Are you in the US or a country where overeating isn't the norm? I would say it would feed 8 normal people...6 americans.
