I think we peaked in the 50's. Self reliance and a willingness to sacrifice for the greater good has been bred out of the population.

We are screwed because of teens not practicing safe sex and getting pregnant and expecting tax payers to pay for their indiscretions. We have two generations who will not be paying taxes into the system because the percentage of teen moms never get gainfully employment. The fastest growing population living in poverty.
