Christmas arts and crafts for the kids on Christmas Eve?

We like to do crafty type stuff on Christmas Eve, for fun and to make the time go by quicker. We used to do place mats (drawings or cut-outs on big pieces of construction paper when they were little) but the kids are getting a little old and bored with place mats.

We need a good Christmas project. Nothing expensive; our craft box is already pretty full, so we already have lots of supplies. They are boys, so no angels or frilly things (mom gets outvoted....) Anybody have any good ideas?

Also, we avoid crush-able projects, because we like to keep our works of art from year to year.

Thank you in advance for your help and please, no rude answers - Merry Christmas!

So for a while me and my family did this cool thing where we make door hangers! You can get em at acmoore or wherever, and theyre like foam or something i think.. and you glue on foam snowflakes, reindeer, santa, and all that festive stuff! (:

Well, if mom gets outvoted, what if they make or decorate picture frames for her to put their pictures in? One of my brothers made a chain for the tree and added to it each year (until it got so big and old that it fell apart). Bookmarks are fun if there are readers in the family. I actually made some for my secret Santa person this year (she's a reader). I like the previous answer of decorating Christmas balls.

Go to a Dollar Tree store and get a bunch of ball ornaments and decorate. Each kid can use stickers or glitter and write their names on their ornaments with a sharpie marker.Don't forget to write the date too.

I was going to suggest curling wrapping paper and stuffing it inside empty ornaments you can buy at Hobby Lobby or Michaels, but you don't want anything breakable. Don't you have ornaments on your tree?
