What do the Red Sox know about "home grown talent?"?
The Red Sox complain that the yankees spend and spend.
ALL these players that lead them to a world series title twice were signed/ traded for:
Lowe, Manny, Big papi, Pedro, Schilling, Keith Foulke, Damon, Varitek, Beckett, lowell, and the most $$$ of all, dice-k
i know, the yankees are getting ridiculous spending that much. but the sox spent $50 million just to talk to dice-k. i mean, that could've been for nothing!
the only home grown sox players

Trading for players and signing expensive free agents are two different things. Guilty as charged on Dice-K, but for Schilling, he took a pay cut to play here and try and win again. That was good management persuading him.
Papi was signed to a deal before he was an all-star.
Pedro and Manny were signed by the former general manager, who spent money to get top notch players.
Lowe and Varitek were brought over, like Wakefield, in deals that were not considered to be one sided. Neither of those three were successful before they came to the Sox.
Beckett and Lowell were traded for in a deal in which they gave up lots of "home grown talent," such as Hanley Ramirez. In many peoples' opinions, this is what what prospects are for, as well as to fill rolls on the big league ball club.
Every team signs free agents to fill rolls. That is why Johnny Damon and Keith Foulke were signed.
That's about it.

signing free agents is different than trading.
The red sox traded to get lowe, varitek, and schilling
and the only lucrative contract they gave out was to pedro, and they gave out a decently large contract to Keith Foulke.
its they go out breaking the bank for every player, they do the little things. And that's not what the yankees are doing

Ellsbury, Lowrie, Bowden, Buccholz, Delcarmen
They were in the Boston farm system, if I'm not mistaken. On a day that Buccholz starts next year, that means that as many as 7 players for Boston in that game were Boston raised. But, whatever do the Sox know of a farm system?

Not "for nothing". The MLB-NPB posting system refunds the fee if the team and player cannot reach a deal. Yeah, it was a lotta money, but 100% refundable.

This is what messes up one of the best rivalries in the MLB. The Freakin' trash talking.
Edit: I just have to throw in this bit that I heard on ESPN. "Murphy's Law of Baseball says that with a big Yankee signing, a big Red Sox signing follows."

"that could have been for nothing!"
But it wasn't.
I see what you're saying, but there's really no point in it. You can carry on about the Red Sox lack of "home grown talent". Red Sox fans can carry on about the Yankees gigantic payroll.
But what good is it gonna do?
How about instead of talking about things we have no control over (*cough* PAYROLLS *cough*) we talk about the upcoming season and things that we can actually have FUN talking about.
EDIT: I just love how you get thumbs down if the questioner doesn't agree with your answer.

You should be asking the Yankees the same question...
why do they even have a farm system in the first place? Those poor minor leaguers... its like working your butt off for like nothing.. and then they get up there and they do badly and then they are like never used ever again.
