Can the Pete Carrol era at USC be called a Dynasty?

Does anyone else realize that this USC "Dynasty" has only contained one undisputed national championship. Can it really be called a dynasty? Nobody talks about a dynasty at LSU.

Update:

shaqdz34- yeah but that is contingent on him not leaving to coach Notre Dame.

Define dynasty and I will answer your question. With few exceptions, I don't think college football really has dynasties. The last one I would call a dynasty would be Nebraska in the mid 90s.

In the Pete Carroll era at USC, USC has had the most success of any college team. LSU mixed in some bad seasons, and OSU has lost in big games in the last couple of years.

It's is clearly a great program and he has built a perennial national championship contender but not a dynasty. Dynasty's win several championships, and although there have been some really great college football programs, I can't think of any in modern times that could be considered dynasty's. Miami was close in the 80's but they weren't a Dynasty...like USC they were just a very good program which won consistently.

Steve Spurrier proved that some coaches are only outfitted for a school application, and Pete Carrol proved he's taken under consideration one of them. A journeyman early in his occupation, he finally got here across a house interior the Collesium. there is not any way he's going to surrender the dynasty he's outfitted to teach a set this is anticipated to win out interior the NFL. He must be conscious that the Chargers skills point is extremely overvalued, whether only on the protecting area of the ball. Donnie Edwards develop right into a dynamic playmaker and the midsection and soul of that protection. and what's sooo proficient approximately their secondary? i understand they havee the streiod pumping sack device, yet what else can he do?... Oh yeah get beat all day long while he drops decrease back in coverage. In college an quite proficient offense paired with a protection this is sufficient at terrific would be triumphant, Pete sees that this is between the various changes between college and the professionals; he's a sensible sufficient guy to understand that the grass isn't greener.

Dynasty! definition back to back at least two seasons and dominating its Conference with a better record than any college team for at least 5-years. Don't squawk that is the standards people put on the term. Greatness is achieved by being the very best! Notre Dame, Alabama Green Bay Pittsburg. Don't even try that Probie. USC is a fantastic team But Dynasty, maby nasty without DY!

But Joseph, they went back to back in 2003 and 2004, they have dominated their conference for 7 straight years, and they have the best record of any BCS team over the last 7 years... 82-8 I believe. 5-1 in BCS bowls? The difference between LSU and USC is that when LSU doesn't go for the title, like this year, they go 7-5 and are an underdog to an ACC team in a non-BCS bowl. USC won't be in the title game, but they're 11-1. LSU lost the Capital One Bowl to Iowa in the 2004 season.

The USC dynasty was going on at USC long before he showed up. Trojan winning tradition goes back at least 50 years. John McKay and John Robinson were building winners years before.

it's not a dynasty on the national scale any more than LSU/Florida/OSU/OU have been recently, but they have at least a share in 7 straight conference championships, I would call that a dynasty over their conference if nothing else.

If every successful college coach had his own dynasty there would be a ton of them. Bo Schembechler, Woody Hayes, Joe Paterno, Darrel Royal, Bear Bryant, Bobby Bowden, Lou Holtz, Barry Switzer, Jimmy Johnson, etc, etc, etc. No, he doesn't have a dynasty. He's just a great recruiter. And a good football caoch.

They would have to have a ring on every finger to be called a dynasty. They are certainly a powerhouse but, not a dynasty.
