what would heaven be like?
i am an atheist, but i kinda have a question aimed towards the christians.
what do you believe heaven to be like? would you be your 20 year old self, 40 year old self, 80 year old self? when you see your family members would they be the same age as you or different? if i went as my 40 year old self and saw my father as his 20 year old self, that would surely make for an awkward reunion.
anyone can answer, really
emily-you can answer your question for me, since it applies more to your own beliefs
amy- no, it isnt sad. its refreshing knowing that i live for myself and not a god whose rules i must follow so i dont burn for eternity.

From testimonies from people who had visions, or were brought back to life after death via surgery.
They talk about this lack of awareness of time. Theres just eternity.
And they were overwhelmed by the love of God when they were in his presence.

Heaven
What does the Bible say about heaven? It's in the Bible, John 14:2-3, NIV. "There are many homes up there where my Father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with me where I am."
Heaven is beyond our comprehension. It's in the Bible, I Corinthians 2:9, NIV. "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him."
How did Isaiah describe heaven? It's in the Bible, Isaiah 65:21-23, NIV. "They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; My chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them."
Peace will pervade even the animal kingdom. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 65:25, NIV. "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy in all My holy mountain."
The handicapped will be healed. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 35:5-6, NIV. "Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb shout for joy."
God will live with His people and there will be an end to death, crying, and pain. It's in the Bible, Revelation 21:3-4, NIV. "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

I believe you will be whenever you would have been in your best, most perfect form.
p.s.
Just based off your curiosity, Not trying to preach or pry or anything, but is it ever kinda sad not believing in anything? I'm just young I guess, but it seems like a very sad thing to me to not have the belief that there is a God who loves us and has a plan for the premortal, Earth, and afterlife aspects of our existence. I'm just curious if you care to answer.

Can Muslims answer this
Sûrat Ar-Ra‘d
(The Thunder)
35. The description of the Paradise which the Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2) have been promised: Underneath it rivers flow, its provision is eternal and so is its shade; this is the end (final destination) of the Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2), and the end (final destination) of the disbelievers is Fire. (See Verse 47:15)
Surat Muhammad
15. The description of Paradise which the Muttaqûn (the pious. See V.2:2) have been promised (is that) in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed, rivers of milk of which the taste never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of clarified honey (clear and pure) therein for them is every kind of fruit, and forgiveness from their Lord. (Are these) like those who shall dwell for ever in the Fire and be given to drink boiling water so that it cuts up their bowels?

from what I can figure out from lessons when was small. it is supposed to be like an old fashioned company picnic, with games, lemonade, ice cream and cake, and whatever else you want

when you die you will face judgement like everyone else. when you die your spirit leaves and physical body stays here on earth. you will only enter heaven when you repent of your sins and put your faith in trust in Jesus christ because he died in place of your sins. so if not you will burn in hell. everyone lives eternally-burning in hell or in heaven. so if your family members got saved before they died they will be in heaven. same for you. i personally think heaven will be like nothing on earthy. we will have spiritual bodies. we will not feel painful emotions but will live as spirual bodies praising our creator JESUS CHRIST.
your an atheist? how did something come from nothing?

It seems more like your spirit or the essence of you is what is transferred to heaven.
