Stanley Cup Playoff Predictions 08-09?
Here's mine as of 12/26/08:
IN THE EAST:
Flyers beat Pittsburgh
Boston beats Capitals
Flyers over Boston
( I chose this because i think the only reason the Flyers are overlooked is because the poor 0-3-3 start. But really no one can be the three headed monster they have and the amount of Defensive Depth they have is unbelievable, watch out for these guys.)
IN THE WEST:
San Jose over Detroit
Chicago over Calgary
Chicago over San Jose
( Chicago looks like the sure winner from the some-what talent lacking west. Their surge of young talent is what will make them the West winners. Though don't be surprised if they get beat out by Detroit or San Jose, just because young talent is great but a team of vets who have done it and been there before (Like Detroit) will be more prime in the situation)
IN THE STANLEY CUP:
Now this is important: The Flyers have been unbeatable at home so far this year, if they get home-ice advantage i would predict them the winners 4-3. But if they don't i would predict a game 7 where it would pretty much be a coin flip.
So i wanna know, what would you unbiased picks be? I'm a Maple Leafs fan and hurting real bad this year, just decided to have a little fun with my picks for the playoffs.

The sharks no doubt win the west vs detroit they will have a tough battle vs. san jose but sharks win the west finals in 7 vs Detroit
the sharks just have a wonderful blue line and good young fowards who can score and some veteran playmakers who can assist.no doubt detroit has some good veteran talent like datsyuk zetterberg and hossa but the sharks young stars are too quick and the great passing from joe thornton will kill the wings.
as for the east the bruins are on a hot streak and probably wont stop anytime soon.and they will play the rangers or possibly the habs.the rangers will fall short because they re known for chocking.Tim thomas is an amazing goalie and the bruins have the team to go to the cup they got lots of talent and one of the best goalies n the world.

Like i sAid the bruins tim tomas is great but Evgeni Nabokov is better and the sharks blue line is the best in the league and the sharks have players with lots of playoff experience and stanley cup experience. yes the sharks always choke in the playoffs but know they have the veteran team they needed.They also have a head coach fresh out of detroit who won the cup last year.the sharks are set no doubt nabokov wins the vezina and the leads the sharks to the finals victory sharks in 6.

You've got a bit of a problem with your match ups. As they presently line up. The Rangers have to factor in some place in the East and the match ups you have probably won't take place in the second round because of the way the first round matches up. Give me a finish that results in this second round match up. I can't envision it.
///ly in the west San Jose and Detroit will finish 1-2 and won't face off until the third round. So a second round match up is extremely unlikely. Again I'd be interested in seeing how you got these teams to meet in the second round.

I just dont think san jose has it. There good every year yet fall out in playoffs. The east is to hard to predict. Anahiem or the hawks vs the winner east conference

east: montreal canadiens, boston bruins, new your rangers, philadelphia flyers,pittsburgh penguins, washington capitals, new jersy devils, buffalo sabers.
west: detroit red wing, chicago black hawks, calgary flames, vancouver canucks, san jose sharks, anaheim ducks, edmonton oilers, los angeles kings.
finals: montreal canadiens win over the vancouver canucks
ps: i dont think the toronto maple leafs will make the playoffs cause they are struggiling this year, but there is a chance they will.
