Return or not to return?

I ordered a computer over the internet and when I got it it wouldnt work. After talking to the tech department they decided that the necessary software to get it working right on the first boot was missing. So, they were supposed to send a new hard drive. They sent a whole new computer including the monitor. It was unsolicited. I know what the moral issue is but since I didnt order a new computer can they charge me for it if I dont return it since I didnt order it,? I used a debit card and virtually paid cash for it.

Well, without that hard drive or software, that first computer is pretty much useless. The best thing would be to call or e-mail them and ask them if they wanted the first computer returned. Maybe ask if they meant to send another new computer. They could have made a mistake and then if you don't contact them about it, they can charge you for the second one. Cover everything, if they say keep both then OK, no problem. But make sure you check everything with the company.

I'd certainly keep it in its box for a few weeks, and see what happens. But then you'd be without a computer at all, as you wouldn't have a new hard drive. If you can put up with this option, do it.

Tricky one. I think for me it would depend on the price of the thing and whether or not you can face the cost of it if they do end up trying to charge you.

I'd contact them, and if they want either computer back, tell them to send someone out for it - after all, why should you pay when it was their fault for not installing the software properly in the first place?

Well look carefully at the information you received with the new parts it will tell you if you need to return anything. I would just get a hold of an os disk and reload it and then have two new computers for the price of one! If they included rma labels then you will need to return your old parts.

i would say becaues of loop holes in the consumer purchase rights and company screw ups somewere alonge the line they may try to make you pay for it just swap out one comp uter for the other and send the bad one back and keep the good one includeing the parts u don't need . a show of good faith .

Get caught or not get caught.

    That is the real question.

They can try to get you to return the PC

They may try to charge your card again...

they can charge you for it because business is business so you should call them and tell them what happen.
