Can you help me with my acne?
I'm a 14 year old male and I've never had horrible acne, although it was mild last year, then it went away and I thought that I would be a lucky kid that never really had acne. In the beginning of this year however, I started high school and it came back. It wasn't bad until just recently when I tried Proactiv. It made my skin horrible and I have huge acne that is so red! I don't want to have scars! I'm on vacation right now and I really don't want this acne to make me not have fun or interact with family. Also I might go to the dermatologist sometime in January or February. Thanks!
Thanks for all of the advice. I just started usng a Neutrogena facial washing bar and already it's getting better. It's not like I'm an unhealthy kid. I'm probably the healthiest kid you will ever know. I haven't had a soda in over half a year. I'm actually eating two apples for breakfast right now. Thanks for all of the advice.

Personally, acne is the most horrible and disturbing disease I have ever got. I'm 19, and I started getting acne when I was 15. When I was 16 and 17, it was so many and big..burrr. I got eczema, pimples and I still have scars on my face. It depends on your type of skin. Mine is oily. Or if your family got it, you also will get as its a question of hereditary. Go fast to a dermatologist who will prescribe you antibiotics etc.. But, you will not know when it will go as acne can affect a person until 25yrs+. Do not press it. Do not stress. Eat oranges as much as you can. Rub cocumber and orange on your face. Eat and drink with vitamin C.

I had the exact same problem, my acne wasn't too bad the pimples were really small and didn't last long but still I wanted no acne at all so I decided to try proactiv and it made it much worse, all the pimples I got were BIG red disgusting pimples that left marks even after the pimple went away. My advice to you quit proactiv ASAP. I booked an appointment to the doctor so I could get something that worked but I had to wait a few days to get in so I stopped using anything in those few Obviously not using anything on my skin caused me to get some more acne in those couple of days however since I was not using proactiv anymore none of my pimples were big red ones, just small ones again. The doctor prescribed me Doxycycline which is a pill that I take every day (only side effect is it upsets the stomach a bit) and Doxycycline has completely cleared my face in about 2-3 weeks. Even if you can't get your appointment with the derm right away quit using proactiv NOW! don't wait untill you go see the derm do it now it's making it worse I had the same problem.

I had no luck with Proactive either, darlin. If anything, it agitated my skin more so. I read that scrubbing pores (which I've been told to do for years, to "exfoliate") can actually cause breakouts on sensitive skin. Your bouts with it could also be caused by additional stress from returning to school, or just the changes in your hormones being that you're 14 now. Try facial soaps such as Neutrogena, but apply it in a gentle motion; don't scrub. Be sure to rinse thoroughly and pad your skin completely dry with a towel. If you use a repairing lotion afterward, apply it with a damp towel, not your fingers. Our hands contain natural oils that will leave residue on our skin. Sometimes it's best to let our face get some air, so only use lotion when you feel it's necessary.
You can also try a new site: www.skinid.com
There you can personalize your treatments, by answering a few questions in order to determine your own skin type and what kind of break outs you have.
I have yet to try that site, but I wish you luck.
And try to relax and enjoy your vacation. =)

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.
The secret is never to touch the spots
