Which effect pedal would you recommend?
Other half plays guitar and I want to get him an effect pedal (or two) He currently only has a Wah-Wah pedal. He plays a lot of rock and grunge (Nine Inch Nails / Foo Fighters / Nirvana). I'm thinking of a Chorus and/or Overdrive pedal. Do these work together and/or with the Wah?
He plays a Fender Strat

Get a multi Effect pedal

If he already has a Wah, and he plays grunge, You should either get him a multi effect, or better, get him a distortion and a delay (sounds better than multi but are more limited)
I'd buy him a Boss DS-1 (Curt cobain of nirvana used those), and DD-3 (Delay pedal).
Both will greatly accompany the wah.

I'd recommend a Zoom multi-effect pedal. Zoom controllers give you a lot of sounds and the capability to compile and store your own creations, along with a pretty big web community that shares their Zoom patches.
While there are better products for individual effects, and some pretty sophisticated gear to turn your ax into a full featured synthesizer, the Zoom G1, at less than $100 (I've seen it advertised for $59), gives the most bang for your buck. Also useful as a headphone controller so provides a way to experiment with effects, play loud and listen quietly.

I use an older model, a Zoom 505, and love it. As for connectivity, as one poster says, with enough wires you can connect them all in unison. In fact, experimenting with the sequence of connectivity is a creative exercise in itself.

really matters about your budget. boss pedals are one of the best. if you want to cut his time get more that 1 pedal, get him a multi effect pedal. the best i tried was from 300 - 400. line 6 multi effects are awsome. but a nice 80 buck pedal would be a metal zone by boss. also, if he wants to impress people saying he is a fast picker, get a delay pedal which echos the sound. if you get him one that echos more that once, congrats cause those are cool and i can't find them.

you can use any pedals in unison if you have enough cables. and i would recommend the metal muff there is a big one and a small one the big one really does give you the bang for your buck and you can play a whole range of softer rock and roll to more death metaly thicker tones it is a really good pedal and u can find it at any guitar center for around $100 (not sure how much the smaller one is)
