do you think this is a good computer for the price. ?
what do you think. the site is given. so you can check out the specs. i got it for 1000. but normal is 1250. pros is that it is a 320 gig at 7200 rpm site messed up and says it is 5400 rpm. also has a 9800 gt 512 card site says it is gs. 4 gigs of ram 2 gigs are allocated to the graphics card if it needs it. but tech it has 4.5 gigs. the 512 mb plus te 4 gigs. the video card is dedicated which i like cause then ican upgrade later and not change the motherboard. it is a duo at 2.26 ghz however has a clocking button so when you play games you can set it to 2.5 ghz without hurting the system. it is meant to run at 2.5 they just hav it at normal 2.26 to keep it cooler unless you need to run it faster. has a keypad. also like that it has a button that lets you turn on and off the touchpad. so when i use my mouse instead of the touchpad and play games i can turn it off.
bad is that it is a 15.6 screen not that icare cause i like it, it is not too big. and it is widescreen which i like too. however it makes it so the resolution is not good. and the battery life is short. most of the time i have it plugged in anyways so that is no big deal either.
yeah but i travel a lot and i am asking for a laptop. i have seen same specs on laptops but wanted over 2000 for it. also a desktop i know for the same specs would run better however still cost about the same cause i would buy a monitor too. i am military so i am not home. why i went with a laptop. wanted a gaming laptop. i was about to spend over 2 grand and a buddy told me about this. when i got it was 1000 dollars cause on sell. it has the same specs i was going to pay over 2000 grand on except the screen size. and the speed i was going to get a 2.5 ghz. this was onl 2.26 however it has a button so i can pump it up to 2.5 if need. so really the only thing was the screen size which also is resolution.
so for a laptop is it good. i get a rating for the vista performance of a 5.3 out of 5.9. my speed is what makes it 5.3. everything else i got was 5.9. and the vista rating is only based on your lowest score not a average.
and they did screw up. the card reads at a gt not gs. and the speed is a 7200 rpm. we checked into it. in fact the site at first said 5400 rpm in both the specs and the overview. then they realized it was a mistake and the overview got changed to say it is a 7200 rpm they just did not get to the specs yet to change.
and what you mean the ram is slow? i know 4 gigs. and maybe not the best but for gaming it sure does play great. i have ran crysis, far cry 2, fallout 3, cod4 and 5, brother in arms hells highway, grid, need for speed carbon, undercover, prostreet, ea sports 2008 from madden to tiger, to nba live to nhl, fifa, and many other games all without lag. only a couple lagged very little untill i put in extreme clock mode which made it run at 2.5 ghz then i had no lag tell it got to a save point which most games then lag a second while it is saving.
and this was not worried about power lol. that is the biggest complaint for it. again it is a seagate hd and it is rated for 7200 rpm. i know cause games i have would not run with 5400 rpm. my other computer is only a 5400 rpm so i have to put games on a external to play them. this runs them smooth. i have abuddy who paid 3 grand on a alienware and has the same specs except his is a 8800 gt card and my laptop plays games better. his is a 2.5 ghz too and 17 inch screen. however with games i dont play with maxed out screen resolution anyways. i run at around 1024 by 700 something. anyways
again price and specs. i have it and i know it is a 7200 rpm and a gt card.
and again for the hd look at the overview. they changed that because they new they messed up. and again when things read my video card and even my computer specs screen all read it as a gt. not a gs.
and again thank you for the answeres though. my main question again is for the price and for the specs. and the fact that i can play new games with it. i know people who spent the same price who cant play newer games. even in desktops on some. my wifes cant andher desktop cost more. however it is a touchscreen so that is why it was expencive.
and even a 9800 gs is not that bad. not as nice as a gt but not bad either.
the power and heat thing is why it runs normal 2.26 ghz but lets me run it at 2.5 when needed. and the hardrive again is fast and at the time i did not care cause i know for 90 dollars i picked up a 640 gig at 7200 rpm that plugs into my usb 2 port. and with usb 2 ports it is just as fast as internal anyways. however i was informed mine is a 7200 rpm from my military buddies. so i tried cod4 and it works great. i have a buddy who has a 5400 rpm and he has to download his games to a external to play. so at least i dont have to do that. i still do on games i rarely play. but games like cod4 i put into my hd.
lol i know they make 7200 rpms and faster. i know mine is 7200 as well. i checked that site and for the specs was much more. why i got this one. i even checked into cyborpowerpc and ibuypowerpc. thanks for the info. just seeing if for the price was it a good deal for a laptop. i know some about computers.
and the 2.5 is in mine too. so i have it from 2.26 to 2.5 for speed. i only use the 2.5 when i play my cod4 or brother in arms games single player. multiplayer they run fine in normal speed.
and again on the site it is 1250 now i paid 1000 for it. no shipping i got in the store. and newegg yeah even ones that had a similar spec that were 2.5 ghz but a 9800 gs mine is a gt was 1500. again mine overclocks to 2.5. and 500 less i am happy.

that tc 442 or whatever his or her name is, is an idiot. they do to make 7200rpm hard drives for laptops you idiot. do you even know anything about computers?
this isnt 1995 anymore retard. go to newegg.com and look for yourself and see if they have them
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Sub... those are all 7200rpm hdd for laptops they even have ones that go up to 15000 rpms.
so stop giving false info and do some research.
any ways sorry about that. its a pretty good laptop for the price
i would check newegg.com
you could probaly get a little better laptop for the money.
and that slight decrease in cpu power from 2.50 to 2.26 or w/e wont make that much of a difference unless your doing intense gaming lol.

Well, your RAM is slow, and your graphics are GS, which is bad. And they didn't screw up. Laptop hard drives, 2.5" ones, don't come at 7200RPM, only 5400RPM to save power and it creates less heat. Everything else is fine though.
