What do you think of the super long hair of my mom?
my mum has very long hair that just down to her middle thighs. Now she is 48 years old.She wears her mane into a huge braid bun that fixed on her head with a big hairnet, bun is her daily style and hasn't been changed for many years.
More and more friends of hers have began to think my mum's hairstyle is a total failure, out of fashion. And my mum can't make a decision about a short haircut.I like the hair very much.I don't want to cut it short and I think my mum also likes her long hair because so many years she did not cut it .
Should I give her some confidence on keeping hair that long ?Is my mom 's long hair beautiful?

Wow! You've got a beautiful mom! And such a great head of hair!
Actually, all this is up to her and that's where the final decision rests. I've glad to see she as the bangs and some softness around her face; so many with long hair don't and that makes the look very severe.
Is she getting tired of the maintenance? Does she have neck, shoulder, back problems? Does she get a lot of headaches for no apparent reason? Having that much weight pulling on you constantly can cause issues like that. Country singer Crystal Gale had hair down to the floor for years and finally developed neck issues which hastened her decision to cut her hair.
If nothing else, I would suggest getting a good 6" cut off just to get rid of the thin ends and make it look more healthy. Locks of love requires at least 10" for their program, 10" off that much hair would still leave it very long and she'd be donating to a great cause!
Just support her in whatever decision she makes. Who cares really what your friends think? If your Mom is happy with it, so be it. Can't live life jumping through hoops put up by your friends......

Your mum and her hair is beautiful. It maybe impractical, but beautiful. She should try to wear it in another style, not just in a bun. Having this long hair down would be a burden. If she decides to cut it, she could sell it to the hairdresser, they make wigs out of the hair. Big money! Or she should take it home, and keep it, or have it made into some sort of style. Your mum could join the forum, or read www.longhaircommunity.com
It has discussion on long hair, care, styling, new hairstyles, ideas. Very nice bunch of people.
By the way, a short hair cut freshens up the face, make skin look brighter, younger, brings out facial features.

It's part of her identity now. If SHE feels she needs a new identity, she should cut it off and keep it in an airtight tin or give it to a charity that makes real-hair wigs. If there's Dad in the picture, his view counts a lot.
She looks very pretty with it down, but it's not an everyday style for a 48 year old. Could a hairdresser inspire her with another, more up-to-date way of putting it up?

I agree with Claudia - Locks of Love (http://www.locksoflove.org/) is a fantastic organization that will make your mom's beautiful hair into a wig for someone who can really use it. The donation can also make your mom's donation easier since it is no longer a case of her just "getting a hair cut". Check out the web site, a wig can make a huge difference in someone's life who had to lose theirs.

i say cut it when she turns 50 as make over have new look for the next fifty years then either donate to locks of love or sell the hair for cold hard cash it looks like it has never been colored either so thats already 600-800 bucks already
you r moms hair is pretty but its boring if its going if to just be in a bun either cut it, curl it, or bun it

Woah! It's super long and it's great, but it's time to move on! For sure, it's not in style anymore. She should get a new, hot haircut and donate the hair to cancer. She'll look better and it'll support a great cause! Win win!

Yes, you do need to give her some self confidence, on keeping her current style, as she likes it and she doesnt need to change for anyone else, but im not sure about beautiful, sure its long and flowing and you know some people kinda find it beautiful but to me its kinda a bit hillbilly, but give her the self confidence boost, and tell her that she needs to think about what she wants not what everyone else wants of her.

It's cool, but it's stupid. Then again it's her choice I just think t would be really annoying and it is kinda 40 years ago.
