My daughter cooked a metal plate in the microwave. How do I get the smell out of it now? ?

Is it even safe to use the microwave anymore? Could any damage have been done to it? I wasn't around when she cooked the plate, but she said she put it in with food on it for 30 secondes, and it started smelling like something was burning, so she took it out.

Update:

Oops, that's "seconds," not "secondes."

Put a cup of water in the microwave for a minute or two. If the water boils, all is well. If the water doesn't heat or the microwave sparks or sputters, it's history and you need a new one.

If it still works, boil a small bowl of water with lemon juice to try to remove the smell.

Put a coffee cup of water in the oven and run it for about 2 minutes, if the water starts to boil the oven should be fine. The only unsafe conditions that occur with a microwave are if the door does not seal to the oven when closed or if you can operate the oven with the door open.

You might try wiping the interior of the oven with lemon juice &/or baking soda.
