Taking a ride to Cabela's tomorrow, what should i get?

Mainly I'm focusing on a few types of .22lr ammo

CCI Shot shells

CCI MiniMags

CCI stingers

and I'll be looking for an ammo box, able to fit a few bricks of .22lr (any suggestions welcome)

Now my real questions:

What do you guys think i should think about buying?

Any kind of .22 ammo i should look at?

And of course, I'll spend an hour hovering over the used rifle rack

Update:

black sabbath,

mainly I'll be hunting tin cans, so I'm just trying to find what kind of ammo is fun to shoot/reliable in my gun (Walther p22, pretty picky on ammo)

as for the shot shell, again, i just want it for fun, but I'll keep a few rounds for rodent/snake control

Update 2:

thanks boker,

and i was going to pick up another 500 round of .22, just to add to the 1000 rds. stashed away already

Update 3:

and i was taking a look at this, if anyone has any experience, please tell me what you think

I like the target thanks I will look at buying one for myself. I shoot a Walther myself and it prefers the CCI Minimags for some reason. My Ruger Mk II .22-45 will shoot anything pretty much and as for a range bag that is to individual to touch. try them ans see which fits your needs best

Shot shells are pricey, and offer very little real world use. Mini mags are pricey too, but pack that extra punch if you really need it. If all you're doing is punching paper, I'd suggest bricks of CCI Blazer, Aguila Yellow Box, Remington Viper (Viper has a really cool bullet profile, and hauls butt too.) Federal bulk packs of 550 rounds each, just a really good general purpose round, and cheap to shoot. I do not recommend Winchester wildcats, the last few bricks I shot were inconsistent, with many misfires. I shoot a lot of 22LR and own more than a dozen rifles and pistols chambered for 22LR.

buy some of each... or a lot of each. Bricks are on sale from time to time and they might be this week seeing as how its the "new year sale". The iron target you listed is actually pretty cool. I've seen a lot of people shooting similar targets. As for the p22... its not picky about ammo though, like most walthers, it prefers the expensive stuff.... actually... as with most guns... it prefers expensive stuff. I've tried remmy and cci in my p22 and they work fine. The stingers are light though... they float with the wind way too easy for me. Golden bullets work fine... try heavier grain rounds for the p22. I think it works better that way.

Depends what you're trying to hunt/shoot. Shotshells are good for killing small varmints but not so good for much else. Minimags is expensive ammo that really isn't match quality. Never tried stingers though. So far as ammo cans go mil surplus usually are handy.
