Nothing from Christians?

I am most definitely a theist. I owe you all a debt of gratitude as this was important to me, once I realise it was an issue. Thank you for your answers.

(can you believe I only got two or three smart a** answers in the last two questions, and not one Christian telling me I was going to hell?!?)

So feel free to commence the stone throwing, as nature now has to rectify its self

Update:

I'm a pure theist. I know some are gonna' say why? But I just can't believe there is no God(s). I may be wrong again, but it makes me feel as if there is no purpose to our exsistance. And I just don't believe that.

Update 2:

Pull my finger *smirk* I never thought of it that way before! And though I was speaking of it in a more cosmic since, you are absolutely right in a day to day basis. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

I tried to trace your background before answering so i could give my best answer which hopely (and i really pray it would) could really be of help to you. Let me check the Scriptures again and get back to you.

"Feel free to commence the stone throwing"? No. Firstly, your case reminds me of Jesus' feelings when inspected the large crowds that keep following him.

Matthew reports that “he felt pity for them, because they were skinned and thrown about like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36)

The Pharisees do little to satisfy the spiritual hunger of the common people. Instead, they burden humble ones with many unnecessary rules. (Matthew 12:1, 2; 15:1-9; 23:4, 23) Their view of the common people was revealed when they said of those who listened to Jesus: “This crowd that does not know the Law are accursed people.”—John 7:49.

Jesus acted upon his feelings and started teaching the crowds “about the kingdom of God.” Yes, he was so deeply moved by their spiritual hunger that he sacrificed needed rest to teach them.—Mark 6:34; Luke 9:11.

YOU left "Christianity". One main reason is because you could not believe that God torments people forever in a fiery hell. Please correct me if i misunderstood.

No one should condemn you for using your intelligence. It is God's gift. No flattery intended, you are right if you think hell and God's love can never be reconciled. [1John 4.8]

    Eccl. 9:5, 10 says:

“The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all . . . All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol,* the place to which you are going.”

If the dead are conscious of nothing, they obviously feel no pain.(*“Sheol,” AS, RS, NE, JB; “the grave,” KJ, Kx; “hell,” Dy; “the world of the dead,” TEV.)

Does the Bible indicate that the soul survives the death of the body?

    Ezek. 18:4 answers:

“The soul* that is sinning—it itself will die.” (*“Soul,” KJ, Dy, RS, NE, Kx; “the man,” JB; “the person,” TEV.)

Note what Georges Auzou, professor of Sacred Scripture, Rouen Seminary, France, in his book La Parole de Dieu (Paris, 1960), says in p. 128:

“The concept of ‘soul,’ meaning a purely spiritual, immaterial reality, separate from the ‘body,’ . . . does not exist in the Bible.”

So what does the Bible really teach about God's punishment for sin?

The Bible's answer is simple and clear:

"For the wages sin pays is death" [Romans 6.23]

The punishment for sin is DEATH, not eternal torment.

Yes, you need to pick up a copy of the Holy Scriptures and study it to learn the truth! The early Christians in the Greek city of Beroea were referred to by the Bible as "noble-minded" because of their "carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so.”[Acts 17:11]

Carry on and make God's heart rejoice by studying God's Word the Bible and reject lies which malign His name. Jesus stressed the fact that God wants worship which is rooted in the truth. [Proverbs 27.11; John 4.23]

On the other hand, Satan the Devil [literally meaning resister and slanderer, respectively] carries on slandering God by teaching He is cruel--by propagating the doctrine of eternal damnation in fiery hell.

Unfortunately, Satan used false religion to achieve his selfish desires to become like God. Jesus himself attested to this [John 8.44]. The good news is that God will soon destroy false religion in the Great Tribulation [Revelation 18.4-8]

Carry on searching for truth, as you said. YOU will know the truth, and the truth will set YOU free.” (John 8:32)!

This is now too long. Please email me for more questions.

May Jehovah God richly bless your efforts to search for Him and the truth. [Zephaniah 2.3; John 17.3]

Please take holiday out of your busy time table of spreading propaganda of your incorrect strategies approximately God and study what the Bible says approximately why God recreated everybody. i detect your harshness somewhat annoying to take. Do you suspect in something as nicely your vast ideas out of your huge ideas? God made us to fellowship with Him. He enjoyed us and He had to be waiting to speak with us. i'm so sorry if that's basically too low foreheadfor you yet that's the fact and what you do no longer understand approximately God you should put in the Rose Bowl. you do in comparison to God nor Christians nor human beings. unhappy to your plight, you're able to be able to desire to steer an exceedingly lonely and hobo like life.

Well I was born a Christian but I'm not going to say that just because it was in the bible that it was right. If I look from someone else point of view... I can understand why there's doubt into it.

Bad things happen to good people and even I can admit that the bible has been translated by man so many times that you don't know whether or not they could have changed it to suit their own standards.

You're agnostic, a theist, and you believe in God.

    I need throw no stones.

  • 1 decade ago

Christians don't say you are going to hell because it is not our place to do so. You must be confusing us with catholicism.

I'm not really into stone-throwing. How about just saying that I'm glad you've cleared up some issues? Just out of curiosity, did you decide that you were an agnostic theist, or have you in fact decided that you know there is a God?

*Edit* -- Okay. Just wondering. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. Sorry for being nosy, but it's difficult to witness someone changing their mind about an issue and not wonder about the outcome.

*Edit 2* -- Although I would question the assertion that you need God to have meaning to your existence. For instance, if it was somehow (this is hypothetical, so please ignore its impossibility) proven that there is no god(s), would you want to attain your goals any less, love your loved ones any less, or would you be any less the person that you are today?
