First time in 20 years: only 1 fire broke out in Manila?

What's your take on this? Firemen are saying that they have implemented a great awareness campaign in the usage of pyrotechnics.

My take is that Filipinos are spending less on fireworks if they have money at all to buy such. People probably are spending more on the essential stuff especially those who are in the poverty line

What do you think?

That is good to hear but as for your take "Filipinos are spending less on fireworks" I don't believe that is correct as many stalls were completely sold out.

There weren't any fires in Manila because all the fireworks were being thrown at my bedroom window about midnight last night. Damn kids!

Yeah, right. Filipinos are now consumer-wise.

That's good news. Hopefully, in the coming years to come, there'd be zero fire reports and fire fighters can spend New Year's Eve with their families.

You might be right that Pinoys are starting to tighten their belts with buying fire crackers and spending some good dough on better things.

That's a good thing too because it implies that more people are being practical and have wisen up.

It's better to spend the morning of Jan 1st at home rather than a hospital.

Because its raining all night long; the lights in the firecracker were doused before they go boom, so the explosions were kept minimal. I can't even go outside at that time to join the explosive fun!
