Does religion bashing and gay bashing go hand in hand?

Or is bigotry more selective than that?

Update:

For those of you who missed it, "bashing" is the operative here.

Update 2:

Main Entry: bash

Function: verb

Etymology: origin unknown

Date: 1750

transitive verb

1: to strike violently : hit ; also : to injure or damage by striking : smash —often used with in

2: to attack physically or verbally <media bashing> <celebrity bashing>

intransitive verb

Update 3:

Main Entry: bash

Function: verb

Etymology: origin unknown

Date: 1750

transitive verb

1: to strike violently : hit ; also : to injure or damage by striking : smash —often used with in

2: to attack physically or verbally <media bashing> <celebrity bashing>

intransitive verb

Update 4:

Don't see anything in the definition about the word bash being used to vilify a disagreement. Could it be that some people can't disagree without bashing? Or is that a cheap tactic too?

They don't go hand-in-hand even though they have similar appearances (hate, blind bigotry, intolerance while wanting tolerance for themselves, straw-man arguments).

According to a poll taken after the Nov election, "overall, 48 percent of voters oppose the idea of making gay marriage legal. Forty-seven percent support it, while 5 percent are undecided.

"The results mirror previous PPIC polls from the last three years, suggesting that the $73 million spent for and against the measure did not do much to change public attitudes on allowing gay couples to wed, said survey director Mark Baldassare.

"At no point in time, before or after the election, did we have a majority of Californians saying they supported gay marriage," Baldassare said. "My takeaway from this is that until there is a major shift in public opinion one way or another, it's going to be another issue where voters are deeply divided."

I do not believe that everyone who has been bashed by a religious group necessarily strikes back, including the gay community. But some individuals do.

It's irrational to think that gay people are somehow inherently worse than straight people. Being a theist is also irrational. People who are prone to one form of irrationality are often prone to others, as well. That's why there is a positive correlation between religiosity and homophobia. Not all people oppose theistic religions for rational reasons, but those who do are not very likely to be homophobes. I don't think I've ever met an atheist homophobe, and a lot of the atheists I know, myself included, are vocal supporters of gay rights. But almost every religious person I know is a homophobe. And it's not just my personal experience. Look at where all the support for proposition 8 was coming from.

Whats to bash when the truth is that Homosexuals are being deceived by Satan and unless they come to Christ and be reborn like any other sinner, they too will split hell wide open when they die...In their deception for Marriage, God cannot and will not bless their union in marriage for it is a "Blood Covenant" that only one man and one woman can enter into..When a virgin man marries a virgin woman, the hymen of the woman is broken and blood is release signifying this holy union unto God. It is not just names on a piece of paper..Gay men and women are blinded by Satan, for they cannot enter a holy marriage being defile and even possess of demons and anyone who marries them in a holy union will be judged of God as well..So again, whats to bash? People just need to know the Truth and this is why God allowed for the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah because the People had given themselves over to demon spirits and would not turn from their wickedness and the same applies for this day and time. When people refuse to turn from their sins, judgment must come or the whole world would be totally corrupt as it also was in Noah's day, where he and His family were the only ones found righteous and were spared of the wrath of God..Yes, and people who voted to continue to allow this wickedness in their own towns and cities and those who have done so will also be judged..Wait and see..

The religious might say no because they too are against homosexuality. But anyone with eyes can see that any type of put down against any group of people is indeed a put down. So in my opinion YES.

I surely study it. i have examine the bible, two times, the e book of mormon, and the qur'an. maximum atheists have. study have shown that atheists and agnostics are more beneficial knowledgeable about faith than believers. in reality,t he more beneficial popular someone is, the a lot less they comprehend. So possibly you need to be asking that in case you've self assurance a faith, have you ever taken the the time to study about it? OR do you purely flow from what you listen others say?

No true Christian hates anyone, or bashes anyone. Jesus Himself asked all of us to worry about our own relationship with God, and to avoid saying or doing anything that makes God angry or sad. Anyone paying proper attention to his own good conduct and morality has no time to criticize the conduct or morality of others.

If Christians would use the Bible as a guide for proper behaviour and attitude, and if atheists would read it all, there would be a lot less bashing of anyone--including Christians.

We all pick and choose who we want to belittle.

The big difference is that Christians claim they have been tranformed by Jesus, so have a burdon to prove that they really are loving and kind to all, so the whole picking on Gays thing is really just an indication of how inept Jesus is at changing lives.
