Physical feats women can do that men cannot?

I remember there was one in particular... something to do with lifting a chair against a wall... some deal that women could do it, but men could not. I don't remember the particulars of this exercise, does anyone else?

Update:

Yea... I think we're all aware of those.

Update 2:

I'm really looking for the details of the chair trick here.

Update 3:

The chair trick has something to do with physiology. For example, a man's waist is below his bellybutton, below the line of his hip bones, while a woman's waist is above her belly button, above the line of her hip bones. The chair trick depends on these little differences.

Update 4:

The Mrs. & Rose: Bingo... that's the one I was looking for. Incidentally, this is the mechanic behind why women are allowed to perform things like push-ups from their knees rather than toes... different weight distribution. Typically, only the rail-thin, slim-hipped, strong shouldered women can do push-ups from the toes easily. I believe this is the governing factor in the pull-up difference too: weight distribution and differential stress on the lower back.

Update 5:

I'm personally about 8 inches away from full front splits, and I haven't trained splits in five or six years. Good try though.

Update 6:

Wow... there sure are a lot of misconceptions about the physiological differences between men and women.

I never knew that, that is interesting. Other than giving birth (the obvious), women tend to have better balance so they do better in sports where balance is needed, and also tend to have better fine motor skills.

    EDIT-

    Chair trick

EDIT2--My husband and I can both do it...I can do pushups and could do a couple pull ups. When I was dancing I could do about 15.

Under hand fast pitch soft ball for one

    Details of the chair trick

Put the chair against the wall

Sta nd in front of it and put your forhead against the wall above the chairback

grab the seat on both sides

lift th chair and then standup straight

There is another one where you kneel on the floor

put you elbow to you knee and your arm down on the floor as if measuring the distance of your knee to your finger tip.

Then at that distance, at the end of your finger tip, you place a matchbook cover open as a tent so it stands up

Then still on your knees you lock you hands behind your back and try to knock the matchbook cover over with your nose. But do not fall over and then sit back on your heels.

Something with the difference in the angle of our pelvic bones

Hang your arms loosely at your side. Women's crook of the arm faces out. Men's face in. This is why we throw baseballs DIFFERENTLY.

    Vive la difference

"Here's a cool routine I came up with and field tested this weekend with good results. This routine exploits the difference in center of gravity between men and women. Because of the placement of their hips on their bodies, women have a higher center of mass than men. For this reason, women can usually perform the following task while men usually can't:

    1. Stand exactly two of your foot lengths from the wall.

    2. Place a chair between you and the wall.

    3. Lean over and rest your forehead against the wall.

    4. You must now pick up the chair and try to straighten up without touching the chair to the wall. "

Flexibility and hardiness, even at birth. Even though more male babies are born than female, more female babies survive.

I was also in swim team for a while. I quit because I stunk. However, when the girls and boys were equally in shape, the boys swum faster but the girls could swim much much longer without tiring.

I've also observed that a lot of women can touch their toes without bending their knees. Not as many men can.

Generally men are faster and stronger than women and women are more flexible than men. I think that exercise you're talking about has something to do with flexibility.

Ok, nevermind, I guess it has to do with balance and not flexibility. What I said is true though. The main physical feat women have over men is flexibility.

    I REMEMBER IT NOW!!!

You put your heels and butt towards the wall, lean forward and try to lift a chair up to your chest.

The idea is that a woman's center of gravity is near her hips, while a man's is closer to his shoulders, so when he picks up the chair, he falls forward like a teeter-totter.

That's really interesting actually, I hadn't heard of it before.

I can do the splits, incidentally, and I'm gonna remember that about the push ups! :-)

Childbirth and lactating being the first two off the top of my head. :)

Edit: Oh. It has to do with width of hips and center of balance. Somebody else has given you more detail. :)

Source(s): Edit: the second half of Astra's answer is not physically impossible - just something I'd rather not think about.
