The date is: 12-21-2012 or December 21, 2012.

The Hopi and Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead. Our moving through with either resistance or acceptance will determine whether the transition will happen with cataclysmic changes or gradual peace and tranquility.

We are living today in the cusp of the Mayan end times, the end of a galactic day or time period spanning thousands of years. One galactic day of 25,625 years is divided into five cycles of 5,125 years.

The Great Cycle of the Mayan Long Count calendar ends on the winter solstice of 2012 A.D. Following Mayan concepts of cyclic time and World Age transitions, this is as much about beginnings as endings. In fact, it was considered by the ancient Mayans to signify the creation of a new World Age. We are almost at the end of the fifth and final 5,125 year cycle.

The possibility that we might be hit by an asteroid is not relevant to whether or not Nibiru exists. I do a lot of work on the asteroid impact danger, as you can see on my website . I also can't promise that you will live through December 2012; you might be hit by a truck. But I can say with confidence that Nibiru doesn't exist. Remember what Nibiru is said to be: a planet (or brown dwarf) with a 3600 year period, known to the ancient Sumerians, that will pass between the Earth and the Sun in 2012 and is already easily seen from the South Pole. That is flat-out false. If there were such an object, astronomers would know about it and have been tracking it for years. Thus "Nibiru" is a lie, independent of other things that might happen like a hit by an asteroid (or a truck).

I don’t understand why people don’t accept that Nibiru does not exist. You must want very much for this object to be real, although I can’t see why. But please accept the truth, that Nibiru is a hoax, linked to a religious cult, and having nothing to do with science. But perhaps some of you will need to wait until 4 years to see that nothing happens in 2012 when this object is supposed to fly close to Earth.

12-21-2012 is the date. A few days short of 3 years. The Mayan Calendars comes to an end on that date.

"The Hopi and Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end on 12-21-2012. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The Mayan Calendars end in 2012 means the end of time (End Times) and the beginning of another time."

its just when the myan calendar ends. omg lots of people are all like ooooooh well their calendar ended so the earth must end. they existed so long ago! they just decided to stop making a calendar probably. i mean if you were a calendar maker and you had already made them for a hundred years later, youd just stop, right? i mean you cant keep making calendars forever!
