Because you're permanently altering their body without permission for no good reason. If the child wants to follow your religion or do it for cosmetic reasons that's their decision when they are old enough (unless they have a severe medical problem at the time).

It's like forcing a woman to have a facelift or breast implants or reduction against her will, because her husband thinks it looks better.

Wow - I did not circumsize my son 11 years ago - because my Grandma and my Dad told me that my son didn't need it.

I thought the majority of people circumsized! I guess Grandma and Dad were right!

    its mutilating a baby

people who agree with circumsizing will thumbs down this because they want to hide the fact that circumsizion is just that -mutilation

also the pain the baby will be in is discusting

i dont know why its legal

I disagree with it because it's not part of my religion nor commonly done where I come from. It seems common in the US, but it is almost unheard of in Wales, so I guess it's a cultural thing.

I think it's totally barbaric, personally. Body parts are not meant to be chopped off if nothing's wrong with them. It'll be my son's choices when they get older if they want to do it, but for now, no circumcision.

Source(s): Welsh woman temporarily stranded in the US & mum of 1 infant boy and one big-kid boy - both intact.

It should only take place if their is medical need, if they are susceptible to balinitis or other infections or if the foreskin is painfully tight and prevents cleaning.

If done for cosmetic reasons then it's nothing short of child abuse and I would urge mothers especially to think about how they would feel if they had the hoods of the clitoris' or even the clitoris itself cut away.

I've never heard of anyone "disagreeing" with circumcision but many find it unnecessary. It is neither here nor there for me but alot of parents probably think they shouldn't because the child has no choice. I haven't heard any men complain either way, as long as it works. Personally i think adult men look better cut.

Because it's unnecessary cosmetic surgery with serious risks associated with it?

Circumcision should only be done if there's a medical reason for it, or if it is the child's own decision, IMO.

oh the hypocrites that dont put soap in their childrens mouth, allow them to talk back to them and smack everyone but wont lay a hand on their children because it's child abuse but then cut off what they were born with. You know I think we ought to cut toenails because of the possibililty of ingrown toe nails. Ludicrous...exactly what circumcision is about...stupid parents following stupid religions and old outdated customs. Poor boys. They deserve to feel what other real men feel - sexual sensation - not only do they lose the sexual sensations but they also have penis' that appear smaller.

I'm not a parent, but I disagree with it because the baby doesn't get a choice. It's not much different than mutilation when you think about it.

It's barbaric, cruel, desensitises the penis in later life and is done without the child's full knowledge/permission. Might as well cut their arm off for all the good it does!
