Christians please answer this question about Noah's Ark?

Noah's ark... in the bible it says he took 2 of every dirty animal on board and 7 of every clean animal. If that is true that makes approximately 5 million animals. Elephants are huge, so are hippos and all kinds of other animals, some are tiny, like rats and cats. so... the average size would be that of about a cubic meter.

Noah would need to build a 5 million cubic meter boat to house them.

Thats about 13.000 times bigger than the titanic. It took 3 years to build with over 2000 people envolved in its construction, just to run the titanic took 907 people.

BUT

Genesis 6:15 says the size of the ark was 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high (roughly 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high). So it would be impossible to fit.

If Noah could build 5 meters worth of ark each day that would be a million days work, or 2739 years.

If it took Noah 30 minutes to collect each animal (as he needs to allow for traveling the globe to collect different species) that would be 285 years more. By the time he collected the last one the first one would be dead from old age.

He then needs to collect food, thats tons and tons of grain and other kinds of food. Say it takes him 1 hour to collect enough food for one animal, thats about 500 years more work. As lions are carnivorous as are many other animals he would obviously need to brin on more than 5 million animals as he would need to feed some to others, he cant bring on raw meat as he has no refrigeration, and even if he did... he would still need space to keep it, so add on another half a million meters of ark or another 500 years or so work.

As he would have vegetarian animals on board and vegetables rot in days, he would need a giant bio-dome so that he could create different kinds of atmospheric climates to grow different kinds of indigenous fruits and greens.

To cut a long story short, noah would need to work about 5000 years upwards to get everything finished. This story obviously is total fiction and the ark would be so large that it would excede the curvature of the earth and become structurally unsound, the laws of physics clearly state that gravity would rip such a delicate yet large structure to pieces.

My guess is that no Christian can answer this without resorting to "God most of did this", just like everything else you cant back up you say a almighty being saved the day, just like a fairy tale. Give some evidence to back this up. I gave mine, so you give yours.

I will guarantee NO CHRISTIAN can answer this giving actual evidence, they will resort to a almight made up creature that can do whatever it wants because it is almighty because they have no back up. This is like a fairy tale, stick "Once upon a time" in front and it would be exactly the same.

Update:

geneabra or whatever your name is, I guess you still believe in Santa Claus and you never question how it is possible that a fat man can go to millions of houses.

Update 2:

Freddy, face the facts, it is a fairy tale. Toy Story is more believable.

Update 3:

Cribber according to the Bible there was no "13,000 years ago" it says the world started 6,000 years ago which would again, be impossible.

Update 4:

Nasty V there are millions "types" of animals. Lol playing word games. Santa Claus is in 500 different cultures too, do your research. Just because the Ancient Greeks believed that Zeus created the world doesn't mean I have to

Update 5:

Noah was supposedly 600 years old. Lmao, if you believe that then I suggest you get on drugs

Update 6:

reinadalez, the reason you dont want to debate is because you have no back up lmao. If you had some you would give some, but the thing is, YOU DONT.

Update 7:

If you believe a 600 year old man from thousands of year ago built a massive boat with the help of an almighty creature then you are crazy

1: Noah took 2/7 of every KIND of animal. That's 2 dogs, 2 cats, etc. Not 2 german shepherds, 2 chihuahuas, 2 bulldogs. Noah took 2 of each kind of animal, and over the generations they split into the different "species" of dogs, cats, whatever. So it would be quite a bit fewer. It is estimated that there are only 1000-1500 "kinds" of animals. If you take this into account, the ark had room for everything, even the dinosaurs(yes, dinos were on the ark as well)

2: It was not only Noah, but Noah's 3 sons helped him as well. He may have hired additional labor, though Genesis is not specific. If he was a ship-builder by trade, he would have already had several hundred years experience.

3: It is thought that animals were all plant-eaters prior to the flood. After the flood, God gives man permission to eat animal meat. It is believed that this is when animals began eating meat as well.

As far as the rest of the food, there are 2 possibilities: Either (a) the animals were not fully grown(meaning they ate less, crapped less, and after a full year on the ark were at their full reproductive potential), or (b) they went into some sort of divinely-induced hibernation. Or possibly both.

In the end, my source of thinking is Bible-based. The Bible says it happened, so it happened. What I do then is find out HOW it happened. If you read the Bible looking for reasons NOT to believe, you shouldn't bother picking it up at all.

That's not all. Imagine a all powerful, all intelligent, all merciful god. Couldn't he find a kinder way of dealing with some bad humans than murdering thousands or millions of humans and an unimaginable numbers of animals in a painful manner?

When the animals left the ark, what would they have eaten? There would have been no plants after the ground had been submerged for nearly a year. What would the carnivores have eaten? Whatever prey they ate would have gone extinct. And how did the New World primates or the Australian marsupials find their way back after the flood subsided?

And then God put a rainbow in the sky "for the first time". Rainbows are caused by the nature of light, the refractive index of water, and the shape of raindrops. There were rainbows billions of years before humans existed, much less before the flood.

Of course, all Christians will say is "anything is possible with god" . They believe they can invent something that is all powerful, then use it's all-powerfulness as an excuse to make absurd stories about talking snakes and rebuke comments about the historic, moral, logistical, and scientific problems with there bible. (And ALL of these sorts of problems are in the Noah story)

An they do this even though there is no evidence of miracles if modern times!

And by the way, even if the animals weren't full grown, there still wouldn't have been near enough space on the ark and most of them would have ground immensely throughout the time they were on the ark. And even with his sons, Noah's ark still would have been impossibly undermanned.

And if he only took to kinds of frogs/cats/elc, it would be impossible to have as many breeds as we have now.

I am a Christian and I feel a responsibility to disprove what you said.

You do not have to believe if you don't want to. But you don't have to go out of your way to disprove it. It probably took you hours to do all that. Good Heavens.

    1) He did not take aboard every type of snake and every type of monkey. He took two of every kind of animal. Two dogs. Two cats. Two Snakes. Two Frogs, Two fish, and so on. Not every sub species.

    2) The animals could have been babies. You did not figure that in.

    3) Because of adaptation and micro-evolution we have millions more types of animals today than back then.

    4) Noah was 50 when he began work on the ark. He finished it at age 600. (Humans lived extremely longer back then). Plus, he had the help of his family and friends.

    5) Your math does not add up.

    6) A cubit was a different measurement back then than it is today.

    7) I didn't once say "God did it" in my argument

There, I feel I have disproven your argument. I believe, and many others believe in the bible. You do not ahve to, but I suggest you look at the facts and what the bible really says before making wild theories and arguments.

    Have a good day.

The short answer is that what we define as a "species" is not the same as a "kind". For instance he would not need a poodle, German shepard, wolf and a coyote, they are all dogs. The same goes for many other animals. He would not need any marine animals. Second He would not have taken fully mature animals he would take younger ones to repopulate. If you do the research and not make unqualified statements that have been proven fallible. We all look at things with the same evidenced we just have different world views. We both use faith to stand on our views to a point. The question is do you have faith in man who has fallible or do you have faith in God who was there in the beginning.

I say that it was a greatly technologically advanced culture, and he actually collected DNA samples and a few cows, birds.. etc. You know, representatives of each group. Once the waters went down he injected the DNA into the various creatures he did bring, and they began the evolutionary process all over again at an elevated pace, bringing about all the different types of animals. Okay I don't really believe that but I was playing devil's advocate to come up with a way it could have happened.. I do believe that about 13000 yrs ago, society was much more technologically advanced than what is believed now.

For the space issues, you assume the animals were full grown. The Bible does not specify the age (size) of the animals.

Noah had a wife and three sons who had a wife each. Of course Noah and his sons did the heavy lifting, but divide your number by 6 (just to represent the workload assuming the women didn't do as much work) and you get about 450 years to complete. The flood started in the 600th year of Noah's life. That gives them plenty of time.

As for the animals and food. Had he started the ark at the age of 50. When the ark was done he'd have 100 years before the 600th year of his life when the flood came. If his wife and sons and their wives helped collecting the food and animals they'd be done in time for the 600th year of Noah's life.

The Bible states that the animals were only two of each kind first. Second Noah had three sons helping him at the time. Third the cubit has lost its meaning recently. Nobody knows exactly how long a cubit was. Plus, I don't care how you say it happened, the animals never tried to harm each other. I will admit it must have smelled terrible. Even if Noah had made an intricate drainage system, animals still fart and crap. And noah had to sove some crap for the dung beetles

You are right, the creation story isn't completely true, it is REPRESENTATIVE of what God did, to show us that He created the world. It uses metaphors and whatnot to demonstrate how it happened. For example, in the creation story in Genisis 1 God puts the creation story in perspective of a woodworker (kinda) what He does is first he creates light, then separates water from land, then gets to work creating. If a woodworker came into his workroom first he would turn on the light, clear his work area, and then start creating.

A copy and pasted question. See my response to your previous iteration of this.

And yes, I am a Christian and the response I gave you is what I consider to be a reasonable answer to the impossibilities that we consider in the the story.

It was written from the perspective of the people who experienced it. They could have easily started in an area where the highest hill was considered to be the "highest mountain" and Bill Cosby was right - let it rain for forty days and forty nights and wait for the sewers to back up.

    WRONG!

If that is true that makes approximately 5 million animals. WRONG!

Not every species that exists today was on the ark. It's called adaptation. I think even atheists can accept that.

Do you really think that if a man wrote the Bible, he would make so many 'stories' so unbelievable? No. Noah's ark was a true event that happened who knows HOW many years ago. The Bible is not intended to please man, but to convey the true word of God.
