If Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Ben Franklin or John Adams?

Were in modern day america, would they fight the system or join it? How would they feel about american governments merger with big business in 1913? Does big business and american government belong together?

The Founding Fathers would be disgusted right now.

They warned against factions and look what we have now. Political Parties that take no-holds bar attitude, Interest Groups, PAC's, 527's, the list goes on. I'm pretty sure they would fight against our current ways and they would be saddened by the amount of gov't intervention. Bottom line, the corruption in gov't overshoots the great minds of our past leaders.

    Fight it.

Especially in regards to the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, they would have vehemently opposed it. The development of a central bank is the main reason they fought England in the first place!

The FRA was a stab directly in the back of those founding fathers who died fighting it. I am ashamed to say that the president who signed it, Wilson, was a Democrat.

All in all, I think we have a very different government now than they imagined. Some changes were for the better, like blacks and women voting, and some have been for the worse, like the FRA.

  • Fight it.

This is not the country that they fought and sacrificed so much for. There would be public hangings so they could demonstrate what "original intent" meant. Government is not designed to enslave people through soft welfare. Ben Franklin would be beside himself if he saw that Americans were being forced to give up their earnings for ridiculous programs.

As far as foreign entanglements, they would be appalled at how beholden the United States is to foreign powers who own so much of our debt. This is NOT the country they fought for.

    Peace and prosperity.

They would Rebel. Corporate America and Government officials would steal or suppress their ideas. They'd be either considered domestic terrorists or wind up working at Burger King. Too many Americans can't relate to the founding of our country and have forgotten about Liberty and Freedom and its cost.

We the people would be accused by our founding fathers of being politically blind..IS there a real difference between the 2 major controlling parties? These are the only parties the controlled media will focus on. And they would definetly fight again!

Well, considering Homeland Security might deem them as "terrorists", I'm pretty sure they would fight the system. And I would be fighting right beside them.

    Fight it.

I know for sure Washington would go into Major Clinical Depression. The modern day US has walked and spat all over his legacy; they have blind alliances, did not remain neutral, etc.

I think they would find many aspects of American life quite different and bewildering, even allowing for the massive technological and social changes that have developed over two centuries. I don't think any would find the present America completely palatable, although Franklin might view it with a good deal of wry humor.

That said, however, I think in a more quiet and meditative moment they would recognize that the underlying understanding that societies DO change, and they managed to create a political system and culture that has endured so successfully. That is no small accomplishment.

    Cheers.
