Who Created Hell. Was It God or The Devil?

Does anyone know if it says in the Bible who created Hell?

I know God is supposed to have created everything. And also I suppose it must be God who when we die, decides whether we go to hell or heaven.

But it seems a strange idea if God did deliberately create somewhere so awful.

I know there are people who know their Bibles really well and might be able to answer my question.

Did God make Hell to send the Devil to? And how can the Devil come in and out of Hell at will. But other people can't and have to stay there. And why doesn't God make the Devil stay in Hell.

Sorry so many questions, but I'm not clear on this at all. Thanks.

Update:

Thank you for all the good answers.

They have enlightened me a lot.

Also I did not know that Hell was in the future and not now. That was completely new to me.

It was hard to pick a Best Answer because 2 were so very good and I wanted to pick both!

Hell is for the Devil and his angels. It was never meant to be for ANY human being. It is God's will that all be saved. God did not CREATE hell. Hell will be CREATED DUE TO GOD'S ABSENCE. You can email me for more about that. Also, do not be misled. The devil is not in charge of hell.

Hon, the Devil cannot come in and out of hell if hell is not even going on right now. Hell will occur AFTER the Millenium.

This question is similar to asking who created God.

If you've watched the Dark Knight, the Joker had this wonderful line when he was being interrogated by Batman (R.I.P. Heath Ledger), "What would I do without you?...You complete me..."

Why? Isn't the Agent of Chaos incompatible with the Symbol of Order? If you mull over it carefully, chaos and order are two relative contrasting concepts. Order creates chaos, and chaos creates order. When one perishes, the other cannot persist, because WITHOUT CHAOS, there is NO ORDER (Sounds like a paradox doesn't it)

Similarly, it can be applied to the case of God and the Devil, as well as Heaven and Hell. The battle of God and the Devil persists 'until the end of time'; Heaven and Hell are two contrasting relative concepts: one represent all the good in the world, the other all the evil. Apply this to the Joker-Batman concept, and you'll understand.

For sin to enter the outshining glory of God's presence it will be burnt and consumed in that awful blaze.

Any with sin will therefore suffer that consequence. Since spirits are eternal, indestructible they will suffer that for eternity.

Presently we are separated from God's immediate presence.

God in His great love and mercy and grace has made provision for any to be cleansed and fitted for His presence.

Hell is a future state when all sin will have been judged. Presently God allows the Devil limited activity that his diabolical work may be evidenced upon earth and for the purpose of showing man spiritual truths.

  • Hell is for devil & for all bad spirit who lured the world to darkness & sin not for Human. I believe God didn't made Hell since its not mention in the bible & our God is God of Love & God of Light & He's purpose for Human is to save from Hell. Demons/Satan cannot come in & out in Hell ( as what we see in media ) since Hell is a place where they will suffer eternally in the absence of God.

This not a trick answer but it has to do with allowing the truth to come to you about things we can't point to directly and say "read it for yourself"

We learned in the bible nothing was made that Jesus did not make.

That is not much detail though, and some detail is there if you catch it, like remember Jesus said he went to prepare a place for the believers. Sounds like Jesus must have been the carpenter of both houses.

God. Hell is eternal banishment from His presence. Yes, He will also send the devil to hell. The devil doesn't come and go from hell, the devil is here, on earth.

God did. As a sort of prison where Satan was damned. Except the devil was given control of everything from the clouds below. God reigns from Heaven.

The angels who decided to rebel against God with Satan were also damned, and they became his minions.

According to Christianity, the Devil was an angel named Lucifer but committed the sin of vanity so God cast him into (and therefore creating) Hell for him to watch over =)

When God was creating the billions of people (in his image for the sole purpose of loving him), he realized that many (most) of them would be so sinful (lying, lusting, doubting, cursing, drinking too much) that he would not be able to allow them into heaven.

Now nobody wants a bunch of outcast souls laying around...

So, he created Hell so he would have a junkyard to send all of the reject souls to.

    That was good planning!
