hey,
yes there are many versions of windows xp but the question you are asking is really what is XP (2).
XP is the operating system we call windows and (2) is the service pack that is currently built onto windows.
a service pack is kinda of like a maintainance update from microsoft. they solve problems reported by alot of ppl and look to add new features to windows.
currently the service pack being offered by microsoft is service pack 3.
for windows xp.
you can check which service pack you currently have by simply clicking on start then run and in the box type "winver" without the quotation marks and hit enter.
it should display what service pack you have installed. if you do not have any installed i recommend that you perform windows updates.
if you have XP service pack 2 then you can go ahead and use your Zune player.
hope this helps

Yes technically, there was Windows XP Home,Professional,Embedded, Professional 64-Bit, Media Center Edition, Tablet Edition,Starter Edition, and Fundamentals For Legacy PC's. Now I think your referring to Windows XP Service Pack 2 or SP2. Service Packs are clusters of updates which can also add new features such as the the Windows XP Security Center. To find out what service pack you have just go to the control panel and then system and it will say maybe "Windows XP 2002 Edition Service Pack 3". Now if you don't have SP3 then you best get on Windows Update and get it.

There's XP Home, and XP Pro
For each, there are "service packs", like SP1, SP2, and SP3.
EDIT: Media Center was never sold as retail, and if you really want to count, you left out Embedded and Tablet Edition, as well as two versions of 64-bit XP (which nobody uses).
My answer stands.
