Why Do Our U.S. Tax Dollars Continue To Support Terrorism?
3 Billion Dollars in U.S. Military Aid goes to Israel every year for F-16s, Apache attack helicoptors, Hellfire Missiles and other weapons used to kill over 500 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in one week.
Testimony: Five girls in one family killed by Israeli bombing
Testimony, B'Tselem, 4 January 2009
Samira Tawfiq Said Balousha, 36, married with nine children, is a homemaker and a resident of Jabalya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. Her testimony was given to B'Tselem's Muhammad Sabah by telephone on 30 December 2008:
My husband and I lived with our children in a three-room asbestos house in Jabaliya refugee camp. The house is next to Imad Aqel Mosque. We had nine children: Tahrir, 17, Iman, 16, Ikram, 14, Samar, 12, Samah, 10, Dunia, 7, Juhar, 4, Muhammad who's a year and a half and Bara, who's two weeks old.
Last Saturday [27 December], after the Israeli bombing began and after pieces of asbestos fell from our house because of the bombing of the district-government building, my husband and I took the children and went to my father's house. We stayed there for one day and then returned home and continued our normal life -- I did house work and the girls prepared for their mid-year tests that were to take place during the week.
On Monday [29 December], around 11:50pm, I woke up and heard my husband calling to me: "Samira, Samira, they shelled the mosque, get up and see, and recite the Shahada [Prayer of the dying]." It was dark, and I couldn't see anything. I recited the Shahada. I felt something heavy choking me and pressing on my body. I was buried under a concrete clock, stones, and sand, and barely managed to move. I succeeded in freeing my hand and pushed aside the things that had fallen on me. I got up and went to look for my children.
I found Bara, my two-week-old daughter. She was alive, even though her bed was buried under the ruins. I saw my husband getting out of the ruins, and I handed Bara to him.
I then went to look for my son Muhammad, who was sleeping next to me. At first, I didn't see him because of the rubble, but I found him alive under the ruins. I managed to free him, and I gave him to one of the people who came to help clear away the rubble.
In the meantime, I continued to look for my daughters. Their bedroom was covered with blocks of concrete and stones and sand. Other people helped me look for them. I was very weak because I had been injured in the head, and I was taken to Kamal Adwan Hospital.
At the hospital, I learned that five of my daughters -- Tahrir, Ikram, Samar, Dunia, and Juhar -- had been killed, and three were wounded. Muhammad was injured all over his body, mostly in the face.
Israel bombed the mosque next to our house without warning and without thinking about the people who live next to it. Lots of houses in the area were damaged in the blast.

Richard Falk, United Nations Human Rights Council :
"The Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip represent severe and massive violations of international humanitarian law as defined in the Geneva Conventions, both in regard to the obligations of an Occupying Power and in the requirements of the laws of war.
Those violations include:
Collective punishment - the entire 1.5 million people who live in the crowded Gaza Strip are being punished for the actions of a few militants.
Targeting civilians - the airstrikes were aimed at civilian areas in one of the most crowded stretches of land in the world, certainly the most densely populated area of the Middle East.
Disproportionate military response - the airstrikes have not only destroyed every police and security office of Gaza's elected government, but have killed and injured hundreds of civilians; at least one strike reportedly hit groups of students attempting to find transportation home from the University."

Because Israel is a Western/ American satellite state in the middle east. Israel does the US' dirty work in the region and that's the bottom line. Ordinairy Americans have no say over their government that defends elite interest.

The efforts of Israel to terrorize the civilian population were indicated in a January 1 report by the New York Times, which wrote: "Tens of thousands of Gazans have received recorded phone calls from the Israeli Army warning them that their houses have been marked as targets because they harbored either militants or weapons facilities like rocket workshops. Noncombatants were urged to clear out. Hundreds of thousands of leaflets gave the same message."
Precisely where the residents of marked houses are to go in the besieged and surrounded territory, the Israeli military does not say.
The air war is already the bloodiest conflict in Gaza since Israel seized the territory in 1967. But the killing and destruction in the first week of the attack could be a mere prelude to something far more horrific. There are powerful elements in the Israeli military and political establishment that are itching for something akin to genocide.
This was indicated, according to Friday's Financial Times, by an analysis for Israel's Institute for National Strategic Studies presented on Wednesday. The author, Shlomo Brom, a former head of the armed forces' strategic planning unit, warned: "As is common in these situations, Israel's primary problem is finding an exit strategy.... The main risk is that, partly due to the success of the initial military moves, Israel will get caught up in the view that it is necessary to eliminate physically the rocket fire capabilities of Hamas."
In fact, the largely ineffectual homemade rockets fired from Gaza, provoked by Israeli's brutal blockage of the territory, serve as a pretext for a war driven by the political and geo-strategic interests of both Israel and the US. For its part, the Israeli ruling elite is determined to overcome the damage to its image of military invincibility resulting from its failure to destroy Hezbollah in the 2006 Lebanon War, and to create the conditions for permanently crushing Palestinian resistance to decades of colonial-style occupation. Its military violence is at the same time driven by growing social tensions within Israel itself.
For the US, aggression by its main political and military ally in the Middle East is seen as a means of advancing the hegemonic aims of American imperialism against such obstacles as Iran and Syria in the oil-rich and strategically crucial region.

America thinking itself oversmart. It thinks itself as the only super power. It created Osama Laden for its own vested interest. Now Osama is hunting America. Now all the americans sleep in fear and uncertainity. America also made friendship with Pakistan for the reason best known to itself. America knew very well what Pak is doing with its aid. But the aid continued. Now Pakistan ****ed America with the aid. America just ****ing up the whole mankind with its oversmartness . I wonder what the thinktank and intellectuals are doing there. Their economy has been shattered. The unemployment is sky rocketting. Their children are going schools with guns. 90% of **** films are being produced there. People are addicted with drugs ,becoz of depression. The wise men there invented WMD,Global warming. They have made the UN a joke ! And now thinking to attack Iran. They are funding Israel a lot. Where from the money is coming ? Obviously from the pockets of its stupid citizens. Alas ! Those poor americans are now dancing with joy expecting a miracle from Obama ! But Obama cant do anything better. He can not get time. His tenure will be finished just by clearing the bloody mess left by his predecessor. Sorry friend ! I wrote so much, but I am helpless .

For the last 60 years the Palestinian Refugees are living in a United Nation Refugee Camps waiting for UN to implement the UN Security Council resolutions. For the last 60 years Israel conducts collective punishment and state terror against the Palestinian Refugees. That is not making a fake news.
Occupying other people by force is losing policy in the past and now and has no future.
No one could NOT change his mind unless he has no mind.

Well so much for your no taxation without representation stance
Now your taxed by Israel and have absolutely no representation there --- but in a strange twist they are well represented in the US -- and paid well for representing their own interests which often run contrary to your own
King George III must be looking pretty good to you people now huh ?
But to be fair the British Commonwealth appears to be under the same spell although we don't get the bill like you do
Enjoy your status as a conquered nation that is run by the appointed powers of Israel
I see Obama has his yes sir attitude on --- the same yes sir attitude Bush had
Iraq costs a few billion per week -- I wonder what it will cost you to invade Iran?
I wonder what it will cost you in moral worth to keep up the silence -over the genocide that Israel is now performing in Gaza
I know it is costing us and our government a hell of a lot to keep quiet -- The people are not stupid -- we see the yes sir attitude adopted to foreigners

Israel is not intentionally targeting civilians. Hamas is intentionally locating its military installations in crowded civilian areas to maximize civilian casualties to stir up the apologists for Palestinian aggression..
Israel has been far more effective at minimizing civilian collateral damage than the U.S. during shock and awe in Iraq. Unlike the U.S., who manipulated the news about collateral damage, Israel cannot censor what the world's news media report.
If Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld are indicted as terrorsts for lying to the American people about weapons of mass destruction and the Saddam-Al Qaeda link to justify starting an unprovoked war with Iraq and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians, perhaps Israel should be held to the same standard. But then so should Hamas.
Israel's closing the borders is not collective punishment. Israel is allowing humanitarian aid in from all sources. Hamas is not distributing it, again to cast Israel in the worst possible light.
Who is to say what is disproportionate? If future killing can be prevented by an expression of overwhelming force now, what is the greater and lesser evil?

Because the peeps on Y!A can't convince the rest of America to turn off dancing with the stars and see what is being done when it doesn't directly affect their lives. Somebody needs to raise fuel prices up to $10 a gallon and perhaps you would start to get their attention.

Gaza's elected government is Hamass. They are and always have been terrorists. They started this fight. Now Israel is going to finish it once and for all. It is indeed unfortuate that a lot of civilians have been killed in the bombings, but when the Hamass hides behind women and children, women and children are going to get hurt. Put the blame where it belongs.

If some guy gives another guy a black eye, and is arrested for assault, would the handcuffs be considered a "disproportionate" response?
I say let it be as disproportionate as it needs to be as long as Palestine is blown off the face of the planet by the time the smoke clears.
