Christians, do you love calling upon the Name of the Lord in every place?

"For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all and rich to all who call upon Him; for whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Rom. 10:12-13).

"With all those who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, who is theirs and ours" (1 Cor. 1:2)

In 2 Timothy Paul told Timothy to pursue spiritual things with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart (2:22).

Psalm 116 tells us that we may partake of the Lord's salvation by calling on Him: "I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord" (v. 13)

The way to draw water from the springs of salvation is to call upon the name of the Lord (Isa. 12:2-4).

Isaiah 55:1 says, "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters, and you who have no money; come, buy and eat; yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price." What is the way to eat and drink the Lord? Isaiah gives us the way in verse 6 of the same chapter: "Seek Jehovah while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near." The way to eat the spiritual food for our satisfaction is to seek the Lord and to call upon His name.

Romans 10:12 says that the Lord of all is rich to all who call upon Him. The way to enjoy the riches of the Lord is to call upon Him. The Lord is not only rich, but also near and available, because He is the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45b). As the Spirit, He is omnipresent. We may call on His name at any time and in any place. When we call on Him, He comes to us as the Spirit, and we enjoy His riches.

How has the Lord been real to you as a believer as you call on His name?

Thank you for responding.

In Christ

There is power in the name of Jesus. His name is above every name, sister Sandy. :)

"Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:9-10)

For me, the Lord becomes real to me as I pray in the Spirit, or when I pray in the name of Jesus. "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (in a known language)." (Romans 8:26-27)

We see the importance of calling on the name of the Lord in the Old Testament times. "And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, 'For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.' And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the Lord." (Genesis 4:25-26) These are godly men who belong to the family line of Seth, including Noah who found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Later on, we learn that Noah and his family were spared the great flood of God's judgment of the wicked, because Noah walked with God, and his faith was counted for righteousness. (Genesis 6:8-9) "By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith." (Hebrews 11:7)

I love the verses you have shared concerning calling on the name of the Lord. They show a consistent pattern of how calling on His name brings salvation and redemption to those who trust in His name. The prophet Jeremiah had the same experience - "I called on Your name, O Lord, from the lowest pit. You have heard my voice: Do not hide Your ear from my sighing, from my cry for help. You drew near on the day I called on You, and said, 'Do not fear!' O Lord, You have pleaded the case for my soul; You have redeemed my life." (Lamentations 3:55-58)

At the cross, Jesus took our sins and sicknesses on His body, and for six hours He hung at the cross, bearing all our curses of broken law, our judgment and condemnation, as divine punishment from God on our behalf. Because He was carrying our sins, God had to turn away from His Son, and darkness covered the whole earth. For three hours, Jesus was separated from His Father, and He cried out, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" echoing Psalm 22:1. The mockers around Him said, "He trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him; let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him." (Psalm 22:8)

Was Jesus' prayer answered when He called upon the name of His Father? Though all seem bleak and hopeless, God did answer His Son's prayer, after His divine justice has been fully satisfied with His payment for all our sins. Jesus proclaimed later, "You have answered Me. I will declare Your name to My brethren; in the midst of the assembly I will praise You. you who fear the Lord, praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, and fear Him, all you offspring of Israel." (Psalm 22:21-23) For Jesus has come to glorify His Father, and He has manifested His name (Abba Father) to us who believe in Him. (John 17:6) Jesus has kept us in the name of the Father, giving us divine protection. (John 17:12)

Therefore, through Jesus' perfect obedience and submission to His Father's will, even to the point of death of the cross, God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name above every name - Jesus. At the name of Jesus, every knee bows - so when we call upon His name, demons flee, darkness and depression are lifted, and God will turn everything around in our favour. For "Jesus" also means "God saves" or "Yeshua is our salvation". (Matthew 1:21)

Today, we as the church have the privilege and honour to call upon the name of Jesus, anytime, anywhere. :) In fact, He loves to hear our voice calling His name, which expresses faith and intimacy. Just as the Lord is our good Shepherd and we are His sheep, and "He calls His own sheep by name" because He knows each of us personally (John 10:3), I believe He delights in us knowing Him personally and calling Him by His name too. In Song of Songs 8:13, the Bridegroom, our Lord Jesus, said to His bride, the church, "You who dwell in the gardens, the companions listen for your voice - let me hear it!" Wow, our Lord Jesus loves to hear our voice. So whenever we call on the name of Jesus, sister, we are assured that our Lord is pleased that we acknowledge Him in a personal way, for that is also the way He first loves and cares for each of us - in a tender and personal manner. :)

Thanks for the enriching question and details, sister Sandy. I believe it was initiated by the Holy Spirit, and your questions tend to bring out the best portions unveiling Christ and His grace and glory from each of our answers. Peace be with you, sister. :)

Do you even know what and why? God told Moses to give the choice of life or death to the sons of Israel. That was not a joke and neither is it today! God will no longer tolerate the ungodly to live, be they angels who are wicked, Satan, or those who follow Satan in his disobedience - all shall die. Have you not read Matt 16:25? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. God is tired of our disobedience, of our evil world, wars and social disparity where there are so many poor who barely have enough to feed themselves or their children while others have more money than they can use in a lifetime, who go about buying million dollar mansion to their daughters, etc. We are like gnats in the eyes of God, and how the wicked die is of no account as long as they are all destroyed! What do you think the promised Armageddon is going to accomplish. ---- You may quote all those terrible things, but the Israelites were promised that if they obeyed God such things would never happen, however, if they left God they would be exterminated in the above manner and even pursued into their countries of alien residence. Are you listening to these warnings? God doesn't care that you do not believe in him! When he goes on 'spring cleaning' soon, the first to go shall be all organized religion with their evil shepherds who did not teach the flock correctly but instead gathered wealth for themselves in enormous amounts whether they be Catholic, LDS, or Wt, etc. After he has taken care of those claiming to represent Him, he shall go after the world at large. Billions may die! This is no joke. Are you going to die also? Or, do you think it is about time to become obedient to the edicts given? (NT) All of the things said to ancient Israel now apply to our world today! The Great Tribulation which will begin shortly shall bring war, famine, pestilence, natural disasters! What do you think is happening in Iceland, between Japan - China - India - Philippines - Vietnam, even China Russia? They are beginning to be set up for war! The same may be said about the Middle East! Soon much of what you wrote shall come upon our world. Survival depends on obedience! - Answer this to yourself: if you knew that a huge volcano, earthquake, natural disaster would happen right where you live, and you had advance knowledge that this would happen without fail in e.g. 2 weeks, would you do nothing and stay there and die? or, would you move many states away for this time until you could determine if you still had a home after the disaster?! God's promise is like such a natural disaster. There is no stopping him, nor is there any way of arguing him out of destroying this vile world of man - you have been warned! What will you to to survive?

My husband and I talked about this the other day. I asked him what he thinks about/dwells on most in life. I forget what he said, but he turned it back on me and it only took a moment to reply that Jesus is that to me. I honestly cannot make a decision in good conscience EVER without first consulting the "what would Jesus do" question.

He is my everything and I learn more and more the importance of relying on Him in the bad AND GOOD times. He is the reason for my peace at heart (as I trust in Him) and my lack of fear. Satan is very real and very scary, I've not been blind to that. I thank God daily that He keeps me from that torment as I seek Him FIRST.

When I think I'm in despare and absolutely desperate for comfort, health, love, ANYTHING I find that His arms are the best place to be. I can't get enough of his word. I love reading His love letter to me and knowing deep inside that I'm free because of Him and that if ever my freedom would end and I'd be captive to some force of evil working through man... I would still be very much alive and free in Christ and be willing to die for Him no matter what.

The Lord has answered my Prayers and Blessed me in many way. He has healed me when men(doctors) said that I would be dead the next day. That "day" was 54 years ago and Praise the Lord I am still here to Testify to His Great Power and Merciful Healing.

Acts 10:38 - How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. 36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) 37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: 40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; 41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
