What is the issue people are having formulating a proper sentence?

I answer quite a few questions over in another category and cannot believe the amount of improperly spelled words, poor punctuation and just plain slop for words.

It is just lazy folks or what?

It would seem that even with spellchecker at the ready few choose to use it and don't get me started on words that require ownership.

I am shocked and would say that easily 60% are total rubbish and I'm amazed that I can understand what they are asking half the time.

    Amen!

I find the level of literacy shocking.

A poor quality education and simple laziness are to be blamed.

Very few people in the English speaking world would pass an English examination set for the average sixteen year old.

Text language has now obliterated the English language for many people. They talk and write in acronyms, slang, and cave-man.

A significant amount of younger people are spelling all words phonetically. I have seen 'could of' , instead of could have. But worst still I have seen "cod of" , "cud off" and "cudof".

More people talk in clichés and therefore are incapable of constructing a sentence of their own. When they are set the task of asking a question, they are even struggling when to use who, what, where, when, how and why.

I have dyslexia, however I was educated in the eighties and nineties. Therefore, my reading level is in the top 1 % of the population, as the standard is now so dismal.

I was told be an educational psychologist and a dyslexia expert, even with my reading disability. I read and write, at a much higher level, than the average person with no reading disorder. So I would guess it is pure laziness. I was also told the average adult in the UK would not be able to achieve a C grade at GCSE level and if they introduced the old fashioned English O' levels back in the curriculum, only a small number of students would pass.
