Learning Disabled individuals: Is it possible to ever have a hobby?

Good Afternoon, I have had Sensory Integration Dysfunction , a genetic mental processing disability that means for instance whatever i pick up from the five classic senses such as hearing a lecture, hearing a word i am asked to spell i struggle a great deal because my. This is not the same as being a individual with a hearing or visually impairment by any means. it means that basically, i can't learn much skills like average people such as being able to play a musical instrument even just the basics. It's been disheartening because i am almost 30 and have tried and pursued every hobby under the sun from ballet, swimming, soccer, cooking, origami, Italian language lessons and even having lessons to play the guitar adamantly practicing and optomistic that a talent or even just a understanding might spark but nothing does. I very much want to learn something new but i am so worried it will just be another failed attempt at a skill. does anyone who has knowledge/experience working with Learning Disabled individuals on a skill that people such as I might succeed at?

I do not have the same disorder that you struggle with, but I do have learning disabilities of my own, dyslexia, ADHD, ect. And so do many of my family members.

My suggestion is art. What about painting, abstract maybe? This could be a nice hobby for you. Peaceful yet fun.

Id actually say try paintball the paintball community is vary accepting of people with learning disability's and its one of the few sports where people are on a relatively even playing field regardless of ability but a warning paintball stops being a hobby and becomes a lifestyle

Source(s): have Visual Perception Deficit been active in the paintball community for the past 7 years
