Have you heard about PETA and Westminster?

PETA does not want the USA network to air the Westminster dog show. How do you feel about it. Here is the link for the story, and also to USA to voice your opinions if you chose.

I personally am hoping the show is aired.

PETA and the Humane Society of the United States want to end all animal/human interaction and end pet ownership. They want to end dog showing, dog breeding, dog owning, etc. If you like having the right to own a dog, by all means do not support PETA or HSUS!

HSUS is even scarier than PETA. They bring in millions of dollars each year from people thinking it's going to help abused animals. It's not. HSUS doesn't operate one shelter. In 2006, only 97cents was spent to actually help a dog. The rest was spent on corporate salaries and legislation to ban breeds, force people to spay/neuter, and end the rights of all breeders, not just those keeping animals in inhumane conditions. HSUS has proposed legislation in EVERY state and due to be presented to Congress at the Federal level in January limiting the breeding and owning of dogs and cats. These laws are passing in city after city, state after state, and growing more frequent every day.

Take a few moments to write a note to the USA Network supporting the airing of the Westminster show and encouraging them to stand up to organizations wanting to take away our intrinsic rights to own and care for animals.

And no, dog showing is not 'ruining' breeds. The vast majority of dogs bred for the show ring are bred with their health and temperament as a top priority. Only perhaps one or two dogs from a litter are show-quality, the rest are sold as healthy pets to good homes. There is NOTHING wrong with responsibly breeding dogs. Not everyone wants a dog from a shelter.

Hadn't heard about it, but I'm not at all surprised. Just more PETA nonsense.

Yes, certain breeds are predisposed to certain conditions - but guess what, PETA...so are PEOPLE! *gasp!*

I do agree that the AKC should follow the UK in that ear cropping/docking should be considered unethical, as they are simply cosmetic procedures. But to not air Westminster? That's absurd. The dogs showing in Westminster are from breeders that actually KNOW what they're doing, and breed to better the breed - obviously - they want to win the title, don't they?

From an organization that thinks it would be better for domesticated dogs to roam free rather than be "enslaved" by our society that (for the most part) spoils our pets like children, to try and stop those that are doing the best for our dog breeds - that should just show how absurd they are.

I think PETA is ridiculous. They do not think that people should have domesticated animals. Period. They want every dog and cat on the face of the planet spayed or neutered. That means no more dogs and cats. They actually petitioned Ben and Jerry's to use human breast milk instead of cows milk in their ice cream. Idiots.

I love Westminster and this year is even more special because it is the first year that the Dogue de Bordeaux is eligible to compete, so I know several of the people (and their dogs) who are showing.

Peta are nothing more than terrorists. They have some good ideas (like fur) but then, with some of the other things like this, It just makes them way too exteme for me. If peta had their way there would be no companion animals. I saw one of their leaders being quoted to saying that an insect should have all the rights his own child does. That's Insane.

They manipulated BBC the same way. They shouldnt mess with things they dont know anything about. they are a bunch of crackpots. I show dogs and i can tell you they are taken better care of then most humans are.

If peta is so righteous why do they kill way more thousands of dogs in their shelters then anyother shelter. Why are they kill shelters to begin with? Its because they dont care about the animals, all they care about is publicity and idiocy and money.

I think we should all start a petition to disband PETA

it is terrible to pay attention. i'm very unhappy PETA might as quickly as greater do some thing so heinous. i understand with any opposing perspectives, there are radicals. It merely makes me draw back while somebody feels putting a existence in probability is nicely worth making a fact. to respond to your question, i think of it would be a disgrace to have the grooming section constrained. There are people who flow to shows to speak to vendors/handlers a pair of breed they're attracted to. And it is problematical to get a handler's interest ringside (for sure) bc they're centred on the action. The grooming section is the wonderful place to have those talks, and particularly get to verify what is going right into a teach canine. Hiding this from the familiar public merely might help PETA's efforts income emphasis. I additionally do no longer think of the companies will decide for all of the extra time/funds/manpower it would take to have form new identity enjoying cards issued to each competitor. I do think of, in spite of the undeniable fact that, that a foundation for secure practices does not be a undesirable element. Even somebody strolling around visably in a secure practices officer uniform will fend off some ability "partycrashers" (insert your individual decision word right here, lol). no longer leaving water out could desire to could desire to be a precaution. i understand greater beneficial than one handler who makes use of locks on their cage after the string of PETA letting out canines to run rampant throughout the time of the teach a mutually as back. it is gloomy that a social gathering of what could desire to be like-minded human beings, a pair human beings can wreak havoc and reason terror between them. maximum teach canines (there are constantly exceptions) are very nicely dealt with canines, and PETA could be greater useful off working against canine warring parties and domestic dog turbines and the quantity of euthanisations each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (no longer asserting they do no longer, merely asserting it is the place the emphasis choose lie), no longer on human beings attempting to greater useful a breed!

The same as always when it comes to PETA. I don't care what they have to say they are whack jobs and extremists and support local terrorist groups ALF.

Its one thing to believe in animal welfare like the ASPCA, but when you want to trample the rights of humans and put animals over them there is a problem.

PETA can go take a flying leap off the nearest cliff. Nothing wrong at all with dog shows. I love watching the USA dog show every year.

PETA kills more animals in their shelters than any other shelter. i love watching the dog show! if PETA really wants to make a stand on animals rights, they should stop puppy mills and stop killing the animals in THEIR shelters. just a bunch of hypocrites

PETAs opinion sucks, breeders go into a lot of work preparing there dogs for westminister and its great. its not like the dogs hate going to a show. im a handler i know. my dogs love the one and one and they are far from being abused. getting the privilege to go to westminister is huge and it deserves to be aired.
