  • What is a good ankle brace for support?

I run dog agility and role my ankle alot. Looking for something comfortable, that will provide enough support. Also that will fit easily in my shoe. There are so many out there, I haven't been able to find one that is comfy yet supportive. I have sprained this ankle a few times before, and now it just keeps happening.

  • Have you ever heard of this for flea and tick control?

I was at class the other night, and someone was talking about using a mixture of listerine and tea tree oil to control fleas and ticks. Has anyone heard of this, and does it work? this woman swore by it. Also, is it safer for dogs then the chemicals a lot of people use?

  • Who would I contact, or how would I go about?

I want to organize a low cost hearing, eye, microchip, heatworm testing clinic where I work. It is a training facility in CT. Who would I contact to work this out one. There are very few times that there is a clinic that you can get eyes, ears, and all the tests done. There was one in CT this weekend I guess this kennel club does once a year. It was a big success, with people bringing litters of puppies for testing and micro chips. does anyone know who I would contact to look into setting something like this up?

  • What is an australian Labradoodle?

ok, I can not stand designer breeds, call them what they are. But I just had a person sign up for a puppy k class for her new puppy. When I asked the breed, she very proudly said it was an Australian Labradoodle. I asked, is that an Aussie, Lab, Poodle cross??? Oh no, she said it is an australian labradoodle. So I wrote Lab cross on her registration for, which I don't think she was happy with. But I can not help but wonder, WTH is this new mix? Does any one know? Is she just claiming to have a lab x from Australia? I can't keep up with these crazy mixes, that people pay so much for, and are so proud of. They are mutts people......

  • So what do you all think of the new AKC Mixed Breed program?

The AKC is going to allow Mixed Breeds to compete in Agility, Obedience and Rally. The info is on the website, AKC.org. The new program will allow Mixed dogs to compete in a seperate catagory. For example, to earn a Novice Agility Title, NA, it would be NAM, for Novice Agility Mixed. What do you think about it? I think it could be great for some of the local clubs that hold trials. Allowing mixed dogs, will get more entries, and more club members. Thoughts?

  • Does anyone compete in Rally?

I'm taking Novice competition Rally classes with my chi. I went on the AKC website, but could not find it. Is there somewhere you can buy the rally signs? I did print out the pages of signs from the rule book, but I'd like to have the larger signs to practice with at home.

  • Anyone out there that does agility trials, I'm looking for?

a new tent for trials. My last one, pop up canopy, blew away. I've lost several over the last few years. Does anyone use a screen house? I've heard they can be a little hotter inside. I'm looking for something that may hold a bit better in the wind, than a pop up. They tend to stake to the ground more like a tent, so I'm thinking that may be a better route to go. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Getting ready for those spring trials....

  • Does anyone know where I can find gemstones to make?

Earrings, or about that size? It may sound crazy to some, but I need rose quartz, amethyst and clear quartz. Looking for maybe wand shape, size for earrings. These will be for my chihuahua to wear on his collar. This is what was recommended to me to help my chi with a few issues. I'm having trouble finding a good size. The are either huge, or really tiny. They will be in a pouch on his collar. This has helped my friends sheltie with the same issues. Anyone know where I can find these? Or a good size for this?

  • Have you heard about PETA and Westminster?

PETA does not want the USA network to air the Westminster dog show. How do you feel about it. Here is the link for the story, and also to USA to voice your opinions if you chose.

I personally am hoping the show is aired.

  • Do you know an easily digested dog food?

A friend has a minpin with a Kidney disorder. She needs to feed a food that is easily digested. She can not do raw, as she travels alot. Does anyone know of a food that may be good? I did not get an exact problem with the dog. She has spent thousands in the states and the vets here could not tell her what was wrong. On a recent trip to Brazil, she learned it was a kidney problem, that is treatable with diet. I have a call into a canine nutritionist friend of mine already, but was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions to look into. Thanks

  • Does anyone show in UKC Breed?

I have been thinking about entering my dog in a UKC show. I have always only showed in AKC. Maybe my reason is dumb, but there is another competitor in UKC that I would like to beat. :) She is very cocky, and it's just one of those things. I am not a professional handler, so I know I can show. The rules are a little odd though. No treats or toys in the ring? Does anyone know how the placements etc work?

  • How can I stop my cat from eating plastic?

Over the summer my cat was rushed to the vet. He was there for a week, when he finally passed some plastic. This has been an issue with him for years. I keep everything plastic away and out of reach, but he gets in from time to time, no idea how. When the vet did all the tests on him, he determined my cat has IBD. He is on prescription food. I also have steroids for him when he has a flare up. My vet said he would look for odd things to eat when he has a flare up. I was wondering if maybe having that pet grass available for him at all times, if that may help? Has anyone else had this problem?

  • What have you had go wrong, when breeding your dog or whelping puppies?

I see so many people asking about problems when their dogs are ready to whelp. What are some of the tragedies you have seen or experienced? I'd like these byb's to see it's not always easy and not always a happy ending.

I once lost a whole litter in 24 hours. They were only 2 onces each at birth. I tube fed, was at the vet, you name it. We think they were a bit premature. My female cried all night and so did I. She was spayed and never bred again. I have had friends lose a female during whelping. Horrible.

I'd like to hear some input. just trying to educate people. Maybe we can convince at least one person, that the risk is not worth breeding their pet.

  • Is is true that antifreeze loses it's effectiveness?

This summer I had to put some in my van, as it was really low. I got my oil changed recently, and he told me it had 0 effectiveness. He told me I had to flush and replace it. Of course if I did it right then I would save $10. Is this something that does need to be done, or were they just trying to get the extra $$. I've never done it before, so just want to make sure.

  • I just bought a laptop, it does not have a place to connect fire wire cables

I have a F767NR Comaq notebook. I have a Panasonic PV-GS19 mini DV camcorder. Looks like there is no way at all to transfer the video to my computer. I have been looking at new mini dv recorders, not that I can afford a new one, they all seem to want to use firewire to connect to the PC. I can't connect firewire to my laptop, does this mean I can never transfer any type of video I take with any mini dv camcorder to my PC? I am really upset, this is the main reason I bought this computer, was to transfer my video's to it. Does anyone know of an inexpensive mini DV recoder that can do that to this laptop?? I don't want to waste more money buying another one that wont work.

    Thanks
