What can I Expect if I Fly on an Airplane While Sick?

I currently have a mild sore throat and am getting over a cold. I'm traveling on a 6-7 hour flight in 3 days. I'm hoping I'll be better by then, but I'm not sure if I will be.

I was wondering if anyone knows how flying will affect me if I'm under the weather. Will the altitude make my symptoms worse? Or maybe nothing will change? Is there something I should do to prepare, so that I can help myself?

Serious responses would be great, especially if you've experienced this.

Thanks!

I came down with a cold while away and had to fly back with no cold medicine. The change in pressure when taking off and landing was very painful to my ears due to the congestion. Take some cold or sinus medicine to keep your head and ears clear. Other than that, I never heard that flying would make your symptoms any worse.

You'll get sicker. Airplanes are enclosed, tightly confined breeding grounds for any number of illnesses and germs. When you're immune system is taxed already by a cold, it's very easy for you to catch something else.

My advice is to drink lots of liquids and orange juice a few hours before the flight. Stay hydrated during. And after the flight take a nap somewhere warm to keep your body temp up and your immune system healthy.

Well i will give my experience with curing the flue and cold put some warm water with salt (1/2 tea spoon )and drops of lime in a glass and gargle your mouth and throat with it for several times this will ease the soreness of your throat and have vitamin C + Zinc once a day for 3 days this will cure the cold faster than any drug and will give your immune system aboost for a long time from any flu and cold .best of luck

I went on a 6-7 hour flight a few years ago with a cold, and the flight didn't do anything

only clarify it as superb you may, tell them it would not injury, you will discover each and every thing from relatively severe up, and that they are going to have exciting. tell them that take-off and touchdown experience slightly unusual on their ears, yet that it is not something to be terrified of. Turbulence could be a controversy, yet only tell them that it is the plane dealing with a cloud and that it is not risky. As for the action ailment, i don't know what to do approximately that. a chum of mine swears via the wristbands for seasickness out on the boat, so perhaps it is worth a attempt.
