If Islam permits a man to have up to 4 wives, why doesn't it permit a woman to have up to 4 husbands?

Becoz there will be paternity disputes people will not know their father because more people will be husbands to a women it will be very confusing for the child and on the other hand it is not a very ethical thing.

I am disheartened to read fake replies from Muslims as well - the fact is, objective of Prophet Mhmd. was to spread Islam throughout the world and hence the same is mentioned in Quran as Darul Islam (meaning - Muslim regions of the World, all Islamic regions fall under this category). The term appears in the Quran in 6.127 as a name of Paradise. Since, the objective was to spread Islam - how do you do that? Either, you enlighten people by attracting them to Islam through teachings of Allah, through discussions etc. which obviously would had taken much time gathering people, enlightening them into accepting your religion is not an easy task. So, what else? You force convert! Yes, Iran was land of Parsis (Zoroastrians) and with advent (introduction) of Islam in Iran - the entire country was converted to Islamic country within a span of 15 Years. Those who refused to accept were either killed or forced to leave their homes, country. There are many Parsis who sought refugee within India. Another example being Egypt which was declared an Islamic nation with majority population being Muslims within 21 Years from introduction of Islam. Mohammed realized fighting wars will not be a solution, he himself restrained as he was a Messenger of God and killing innocent din't appeal. What else you do? You MARRY ! Mohammed had 13 wives, though he married twice and later thrice and so on only after death of his 1st wife - Khadija. But, those marriages were Political Marriages, the kids of those wives all Muslims (obviously made to follow religion of father) and imagine how easy it becomes to preach your religion and how easy it becomes to convert your in-laws as well!

Mohammed also realized it is certainly not easy to sustain a large family needs and children of 13 wives so he caped it to Four wives with a condition that the Man is well off to treat them equal and sustain the needs of such large family. However, the intention being growth in Muslim population and spread of Islam in entire world.

well if you look at world statistics, you will learn that there are a lot more women than men in the world.

lets the UK as an example, in 2007, in UK alone there were 31 million women compared to 29.9 million. Now suppose every man married only one woman, what would happen to the rest of the 1.1 million? surely they also want to get married and bring up a family of their own? but if it was only one woman per man, those 1.1 million women would be left unmarried. what choices do they have - either to marry an already married man or not marry at all. this is why men are allowed up to 4 wives and not vice versa. also, in future years, the ratio of women to men is set to increase to the extent that there will be 50 women for every man!!

the uk is not the only place where women outnumber men, many other places it is the same.

You have to understand why this was allowed.

When there were a few Muslims, and they went to battle against the idolaters sometimes they died, this mean their wives were widows.

Imagine living in a desert, nomad culture, where you are a widow female, the reason why Muslim men were allowed to marry another woman was for this reason, to be able to take care of the widows.

Also do your research if every man in America was married, there would be MILLIONS of unmarried females

But in reality very few percent of Muslims can marry multiple wives, only like rich Sheiks can do that stuff, you have to treat them all the same

Say a man takes 4 wives. If each of these wives were then to take 3 other husbands (meaning they have 4). Then that family would consist of 17 people, without children, and assuming that these other husbands only took strictly one wife. If a woman could marry the same way a man could then families would be a jumbled mess.

The abrahamic religion, least of all Islam, are not big on the whole equality between Genders thing. Even in modern times in the middle east, women are executed for being raped, married or otherwise. At the same time, they are being executed from killing men who try to rape them!

They treat their women like dogs---They are not equal in any sense. Can't you see how they have to dress? I recently met a muslim family at a ski resort. The boys were dressed in the latest ski fashions and getting ready to hit the slopes and the daughter was covered up in robes and scarves and getting ready to sit in some corner all day by herself. Does that answer your question.

All are adopting only one column for filling the name of father of applicants in all application forms.

So if Islam permits a woman to have up to 4 husbands how can you right your four fathers names in one column? LOL
