now when I google anything, all of these sub-search sites come up instead of the site that should.

You should get a spyware scanner like Ad-Aware, and see if it can remove all of these pop-ups, since it sounds like when your restored your HP through system restore that it reinstalled old applications and programs that had spyware on them.

when you did a restore did you reinstall anti virus and pop up stopper software?
