My snake won't eat. Should I be concerned?
It's been 2 months since she's eaten. She's been in and out of her shed and I've tried every week to feed her. She has been nose to nose with the rat and will pull away and then ignore it. She doesn't seem to be losing any weight and is very active. The heat in the tank is 80 to 84 during the day and 74 to 78 at night. Oh and she's a ball python

Okay so I don't have a Ball Python, but I do have 2 Burmese Pythons. I had the same exact problem with my own a few years back. What was happening with my snake was he was constipated from all the previous meals he had eaten. I took him to a vet, that was a little ways away because vets are hard to find that will look at reptiles. And this is what I was told to do.
I was told to Soak my Python in 90 degree water, 3 times a day, for 15 minutes. This helps the python digest the previous meals and it also helps the snake shed.
Im not sure how high you should do it with a ball python. But I would try soaking her in the high 80's and see if that helps her. It all depends on how big her meal was 2 months ago. She might be having a hard time digesting it.
So I would give her another week or so, then try to soak her. It should help.

Apparently I'll be the first to tell you, you have nothing to worry about at this point in time.
Ball Pythons are known to be very picky eaters. That's just how they are. The smallest thing can set them off as far as environment change, not enough heat, that type of thing.
But by what you're describing, you're doing all the right things.
Ball Pythons will sometimes "fast" for a few months out of the year. From what I've heard, this is normal during the winter months.
How old is she?
Adults can go up to a year without eating and be absolutely fine.
Basically what I'm saying is, there's no need to rush her to the vet unless she's starting to lose weight.
If it continues to that point, then yes. She'll need medical attention.
But until then, it's absolutely normal.
Continue to offer every week or two, depending on how old she is, and she'll eat when she's ready.

Its very normal for a snake to "fast". They can do this for months at a time. As long as you see that shes not losing weight, still has good muscle tone and drinks water, she should be fine. Have you been using live rats or thawed? Some snakes prefer one over the other, but can switch if they get tired of the usual. Make sure she has enough humidity in her tank and you handle her often (not while shedding of course) to keep an eye on her health.

My ball python didn't eat for 3 months when we first got him. Yours might not be eating because it's mating season or because it may be trying to hibernate. She also might not be hungry. But try to feed her in her cage so she is comfortable. remove all objects from the cage and put the rat in first to avoid being bitten in the future. watch the cage closely for a while and see if she eats. Good Luck!

Let the rat stay in with her for a while before taking it away if another week slithers by and no eating take her to vet, she may be obstructed.

Yes it is bad,.
Pythons usually get eating disorders like that,
go bring it to your vet, and ask about what you can do.

snakes wont eat if they are about to shed or if they are dehydrated. Two months is a long time for her not to eat.

I would gave her a warm bath to get a bowel movement and then try to feed her. If not then take her to the vet.
