There is something call carpethairremover1
The CARPET pet hair remover is an easy and effective way of removing pet hair, fluff and fuzz from carpets and upholstery in your home and car.
Simply wipe the surface to gather up all the unwanted hairs and fluff and then pull it easily from the CARPE.
It is avable on-line. Hope it helps

the only powder i have seen is for smells. I have dyson animal (the purple one). I had three dogs until recently and now have two. It works very well. I usally have to vacuum daily in the places we hang out normally - less in less used rooms. It has a wand that comes out to do the stairs and has very good suction. I've never had a problem getting the hair up. It also has an attachment that has a turbine thing like on the big vacuum for upholstry and stairs - but I dont' use it much. It fluffs the carpet up a bit, but i dont see the need really. I just use the tool on the vaccuum that is for upholstry to do my stairs (flat).
What kind of dog do you have? I'm wondering if your vacuums hose is not powerful enough to get the hair from the stairs, but if you're having issues while vaccuuming as well - it just may be that you need a more powerful vaccuum. I had an oreck before the dyson and it worked very well too - it was 12 years old and finally blew up (i never had maintenance done on it so I wasn't upset). If you're using like a lower end $100 ish vac - you may want to consider saving up for a new one.
Or, confine the dog to an area of your home that is less difficult to get the hair up from. I hope you don't have to get rid of your dog. This was a concern for me when my 14 month old baby was born (was scared of dog hair in her mouth etc). This does happen, but vaccuuming every day limits it to being rare.
One of my dogs is a real shedder - shepherd mutt - and it's definetly a challenge. Those combs- I think they're called shedding knifes - are good too. If you do that outside and get most of the excess off it helps. Once a week should really help a lot. Good luck!!

You are ready to find your dog a new home because she *sheds*? That's what dogs do. It's not her fault!
Brush your dog daily -- it's easier than vacuuming -- and that will eliminate most of the problem of getting dog hair on the carpet. And, there are attachments that go on your vacuum cleaner that are especially for pet hair. Check with the dealer/manufacturer.
Depending on what kind of a coat she has, some people have a lot of luck with the "furminator" grooming tool. You might give that a try. I don't find it works very well with my dogs' coats, but it seems to depend on the type of coat.

This may sound like a joke but I'm being serious! Remove the carpet and change it to something suitable. You are always going to get problems with the one you've described. I'm sure the landlord won't mind since you're replacing it. You're not throwing the old one out. You can say that your redistributing it. If he says no, make him feel awful. Start crying. He'll then probably say: "Oh for f*ck's sake! Okay then!" Then you have solved your problem and you can skip back into the house singing christmas songs. Good luck my friend - have faith!

If this is a "problem" for you, perhaps rehoming the dog is the best answer.
