is there any way of disabling AOL search on my HP Compaq? It annoys me sooo much!?
Every web page that doesn't dislay seems to get searched on AOL - which I don't want.

You need to change your default search provider.
This video shows how you do it in Internet Explorer 7:

It will be pretty similar in other versions. I don't recall what it is called but it is something like the "Default AutoSearch Provider" or "Default Search Provider".
It's quite a common request so there should be plenty of info out there.
