Which of these 3 you find beautiful?

The book’s cover.

The book’s content.

Full comprehension of the book’s content.

There’s a reason why I asked this simple question.

Care enough to guess why?

Update:

Oh dear, I forgot to add,

I don't belong to any religious group.

Update 2:

My bad.

The book can be anything.

Can be just a book,

Can be just a someone.

Can be just a thought.

Can be just you, yourself.

Can be a relationship too.

Update 3:

Dear Pluto, I find your “there is nothing called "full comprehension".” quite agreeable.

But if there’s no such thing as full comprehension, does it mean that the author don’t fully comprehend his or her book? What is perfection to you my friend?

Update 4:

Mysterious Panda just gave us a very good example.

The book’s cover:

“Screw that :)

Im going to wait for the DVD :)”

The book’s content:

“The meaning of Mysterious Panda’s statement.”

Your understanding of and reaction to Mysterious Panda’s statement make the comprehension full.

The cover is not important, and is usually done last.. out of necessity.

the contents are interesting... to see how it has been put to words etc... (to see how the comprehension has been manifested)

the comprehension is the fullness and the Essenes...

words, phrases and paragraphs only point to things.

the things they point to is the third option in your list...

you might be alluding to the Bible in some way, I dont know why you asked but it doesnt matter because its a good philosophical question :)

Normally, full comprehension/understanding the meaning of what the book is conveying is the one to be appreciated. Yet, it also true that the comprehension depends on my mind and if my mind is not fully developed, unbiased and open, the comprehension of such a mind would be disastrous! Moreover, there are great texts that can not be understood by mind as mind by its very nature consist of thoughts that can not comprehend the reality as a whole. In such cases, just read or recite or hear with blank mind and allow the 'read' to sink within ourselves and the meaning revealed by the Whole to us as a flash, as an insight, as an intuition. Mind as a blank space, a canvas on which meaning as it is painted on its own and full!

I would have to say "full comprehension of the books content" because we can have a book with a beautiful cover and lovely writing and pictures but unless we understand it and get it, its not really going to stimulate or inspire our thought so much. However, if it is a person i was talking about, then i would say content first because everyone is beautiful in their own unique way even if we dont quite get them or understand them too well. Interesting question...

If you're talking about the bible's old testament, the cover is bland, the content is horrible, and full comprehension of it's content produces a bigoted, hateful psychopath.

The new testament however is the exact opposite. Peaceful (excessively so in some places) content, with full comprehension creating a humanitarian. Unfortunately most of those who claim full comprehension are in fact bigoted and hateful. A few are psychopaths.

I like both the book's content and full comprehension of the content. Most of the books I read have ugly covers.

Okay! I'll take it literally...that would put less pressure on my remaining few gray cells!

An attractive cover would catch my eyes, arouse my interest, make me check it out. So far so good!

If on browsing, I find the contents interesting, I'd go through it...and enjoy if it satisfies me or opens a whole new world for me to explore.

Full comprehension never dawns on me. I'm being honest here!

The first time I read 'Pride & Prejudice' I was a young lass and many vital points/issues simply went over my head. Then I read it again at different points in my life and every time a new meaning unfolded in this human saga...depending on how much experienced I'd become. This is about a simple tale...so imagine what other more complex books could hide...

As for your question...I find all the three options beautiful for different reasons!

I found Jesus before I read the book. I found Jesus to be absolutely fascinating when he done for me the things that he did. I asked someone how I can find out more about this man that changed my life. They showed me the book and said that all I needed to know about Jesus was in the book. I read the book and found this man Jesus was absolutely the most amazing person that I have ever read about. Find Jesus first then read the book. It will make a lot more sense to you that way.

All of the various aspects of any book contain their own intrinsic beauty and value, but the reader must learn to read each book between the lines!

One must observe that which is unseen within the book in order to absorb the true beauty that lies within!

    The books content.

Why I chose this one you may ask?...because...

The book's cover is not enough to hold my attention.

Full comprehension of a book's content cannot enable me to keep growing and reaching for more insight.

Ahhh...but a book's content, that moves me and compells me to keep reaching for more and has the ability to fulfill and amaze me.

    Are we speaking about people?

    If not, do tell.

    Peace!
