Eschatologically (end-times) speaking, how prevalent is the rapture doctrine ?

...within Christianity, percentage-wise–in your expert or not opinion?

It seems that more and more Christians these days believe the rapture doctrine in general, which gives the impression almost that the majority of Christians hold that view?

I know that not all Christians believe in the Rapture, and that of those that do, many tend to differ on time lines, pretrib–midtrib and some even post trib Evangelicals, not to mention denominational distinctives and self-exclusive doctrinal beliefs which paints a very discordant picture of the “body of Christ,”–if in fact that is what you believe that the New Testament teaches.

Can any of you believers enlighten me on this according to your perspective?

How many of you believe in the rapture doctrine compared to those of you who do not. I’m just trying to get a snapshot of what the R&S pie looks like in terms of the different types of rapture believers.

Thank you for the responses

Update:

Gee Oldguy--is that "speaking the truth in love" (lol) if it is so clear then why do most rapture fundies like yourself not agree with each other??

Update 2:

Just so everybody knows, I have not thumbed anybody down, all of that is happening out there amongst yous (lol)

Update 3:

Natassia--you are always a breath of fresh air--I love the mystery of life as well :-)

wouldn't it be boring if we knew everything?

The rapture is one of the clearest doctrine taught in the Bible, in many passages. Jesus said, "If I go away, I will come again and receive you to myself". That is the rapture. If you don't understand what Jesus said find the closest 5 year old to tell you what it means. That is my view.

    Born again fundie.

Just to explain from a Catholic perspective: the Rapture is a protestant invention brought about because protestants don't have the Mass. That's right, the Mass. The Book of Revelation (or The Apocalypse) is a book based on the Mass and is virtually impossible to understand without understanding the Catholic liturgy. Revelation explains that the liturgy we celebrate in Mass is an actual participation in the Heavenly Liturgy that is being celebrated at all times (and will be in Heaven forever).

So if you don't understand the Mass, you tend to see the book of Revelation as only a difficult explanation of the end of time. And interesting human concepts like The Rapture are invented to explain it. It's important to note that the Rapture is primarily a 20th century concept, with little to no precedent for the belief. At this point in time there are multiple versions of the belief in the rapture: pre-millennial, post-millennial, even those who are essentially mid-millennial.

So what is the Truth? Jesus Christ will come at the end of time and separate the wheat from the chaff, taking the wheat to heaven. Those who haven't achieved holiness, but aren't in mortal sin, will be perfected through purgatory.

Pray that through the Sacraments, we all become wheat for Jesus.

Read the book of Matthew, Acts, Luke, the letters of John and Jude and Revelation. It`s all in there about praying, fasting and watching the times, signs from heaven (space), Bible prophecy and the "Rapture" and the Holy Ghost. You see the "church" literally will be stolen by Jesus in the blink of an eye, then the celebration of the marriage of the Lamb, Jesus and the "Bride", who is the "Church", takes place. Just that simple, I`m a Born-Again-Christian, "re-born" of the Spirit. After that, Satan`s activity against Israel increases, there will be a short peace (which may have taken place already), then the 2 prophets will return to Israel to preach, but before all this can take place, the "Fullness" of the Gentiles has to occur, and only God the Father knows when that will be.

It is a doctrine that came about in America in the 1800s. It took some speculation on Revelation such as the 7 year reign of the antichrist, and other things and it basically found a passage and misinterpreted it and then claimed that because of this passage which they read wrong (it refers to the gathering up of the elect on Christs return), they began promoting a doctrine that God would prevent his believers from suffering through the tribulation. It is called dispensationalism and it was also highly tied in with a desire to attack the Catholic Church, hence it's tendency to label the pope as the antichrist

provided that there is no scripture to assist the belief of a rapture, you choose no longer worry approximately killing Eve. and regardless of if there have been a rapture, guy can check out the previous, yet he can under no circumstances replace the destiny. the tip time refers back to the tip of the international's corrupt government. purely God's ordinary kingdom in the international can replace corruption in government. this is why Jesus will return--to be sure and reign over God's new government.

The rapture is a HUGE idea based on one little verse.

I'm not big on inflated ideas myself.

Reading the Bible does not give me a clear and concise picture as to what the "end times" will be like.

And I'm content not knowing, to be perfectly honest with you.

1Cr 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

1Cr 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

    I believe that.

I believe in the 2nd Coming of Christ (at the 7th trump) after the anti-christ appears (at the 6th trump) on earth.

There is no rapture of the christians, this is false, only the 2nd Coming of Christ.

Most of those that believe in this doctrine believe that the kingdom of God/ Christ has not come. If that is true, than Jesus lied.

Mat 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mat 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mat 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mar 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Luke 21:31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

Ask your self a question, what dose at hand mean? They teach that the kingdom is still in the future. That being said please explain these verses to me.

Mat 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Mar 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

Luk 9:27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

In all 3 of these verses, all were told that they would not die until they had seen the kingdom come. If the scriptures are true, were are those people that have not died because the kingdom has not come. That means there are people living that are over 2,000 years old. Or is something else wrong, lets see what the scriptures says about this kingdom.

Act 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Act 19:8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

Act 20:25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

Act 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Act 28:31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Act 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Act 5:11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

Act 7:38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

Act 8:1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

Act 14:23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

Act 14:27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

Act 15:4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

Act 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

The church and the kingdom are the s
