Was this guy being rude?

This morning I am leaving for work, when I look down my driveway there is a truck parked at my neighbors home with a workman standing by it and they have left a ladder sticking into my driveway. I shout down the driveway "excuse me" with no results, I then say "hey buddy" no reply finally I shout "hey" the guy finally turns and I say "I need to get my car out can you move the ladder" the guy just stands there, I then say "is there a problem?" his reply finally is "yea you could be a bit nicer about it" This really irked me cause he was blocking my driveway I called out to him 3x and then he comes back with that. Whats the deal?

He was being rude but honestly, so were you. Your neighbor was obnoxious for not asking your permission to use your driveway for their repair people

It might have helped if you had said Please. Or walked over and, in a conversational tone (no shouting) said, good morning. Hey, I'm leaving for work in a few minutes. Do you mind moving your ladder just a bit so I can back out?

Yes, he was being rude, but then, he might have been responding to you.

I am sorry that happened to you. He was rude and he should have handled it better. Maybe he is like that all the time or maybe something happened and just that once he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. You could just have easily have taken his information down and reported it to his company or to the police. Just try and be like a ducks back and let his comments roll off you like water. If he does it again I would definitely file a complaint. If you want to follow up on this you could contact your neighbor and find out what company it was and let them know how you were treated. You would be better off just letting it go though.

He could have not heard you the first couple of times, but he had to know that the ladder was blocking your drive way - you weren't rude because at that point I would have had a lot more to say to him.

I'm betting that the only thing he did hear when you finally got through was "Hey buddy! I need to get my car out can you move the ladder!?" He obviously didn't hear the polite intro of "Excuse me", only the slightly less polite part of it.

He was at fault, without a doubt.

He may have been responding to the fact that you had to raise your voice so he would notice you.

If he had the sense god gave a grapefruit, he would have realized what was happening, apologized for blocking you and moved his ladder without further comment.

Yup, he was rude. If you know of the name of the company he works for Id call 'em and complain about him blocking your driveway and his rudness. Uncalled for.

Well personally I think you were being quite rude, my family or chauffer would all say

"I say, would you rather mind moving those ladders I have an important engagment"

Maybe he didn't hear you, the first few times?

It's also illegal to block a person's driveway. And yeah, he was rude.

Yes. What a jerk. That's illegal.
