Depends where you go. Dont go to a place that has unbelievable discounts (like $299.00 per eye) because I cant imagine the quality of care would be that great.

Also there are different types of Lasiks now. Old lasiks uses a blade. I had the newest Lasiks, bladeless, custom lasiks. A laser made the cuts instead of a blade. The difference is the healing, the laser heals better than the blade and it is less dangerous with a laser than a blade.

I went to a TLC location

    www.tlcvision.com

They have a 100% guarrentee so that if you get your eyes examined yearly and your eyes regress (you have to wear glasses again) as you age then they will REDO it FOR FREE the 2nd time (if you have enough tissue left in the eyes). I dont think any other place offers that.

If you have insurance it might cover some of it. You should ask the person in charge of payments at the office you choose what options you have. They would know what companies or places to ask (your health insurance/your employer, etc).

I did not have health insurance or anything that would pay for any of it so I had to pay myself. I was almost $6,000.00 US dollars. It was completely worth it.I had it done back in summer 2006 and I was 20/400 (big E on eye charts is 20/200 and I couldnt see that without glasses on) and now I am 20/15 (better than perfect vision).

I had dry eyes before the surgery so I still have that. The surgery can cause dry eyes in some people. A few times a day I use preservative eye drops (that I can buy at any pharmacy) to relieve my dry eyes. I couldnt wear contacts anymore since my eyes were so dry.
