If the roles had been reversed and this had happened in England would it be headline news?

Update:

James, a Police spokesman said,"Grampian Police is aware that many victims do not report such incidents to the police or other public bodies" so perhaps it is the norm in that country!

Don't know about that but what a scum bag to punch a woman in the first place (no matter what the reason) what a pathetic coward ! any man who does this isn't a real man and i hope he gets what's coming to him.

I've just heard about this and I am disgusted. I have to say that I don't believe that is the norm in Scotland. I've been to Edinburgh five times and was always treated with respect and courtesy. I think there are idiots everywhere, and this is probably just an isolated incident. Yes, I do think that more would have been made of it if it had been the other way round.

Being old fashioned I think it is disgusting to strike a woman but there are cowards in Scotland just as everywhere else. You can bet your boots if the assault had been on one of our so called ethnic minorities the might of the Grampian Police would have been unleashed to find the culprit.

  • The truth is that you get isolated attacks like this in all areas, all walks of life. Let's just hope that the woman makes a full recovery and the perpetrator gets his just dues. I don't think it's fair to blame the media for this or to try to stir up a 'race war' when the wider evidence is that it isn't happening. A lot of English people live in Scotland with no repercussions, it is one of the areas of the UK whose population is falling so I don't see that they would mind immigrants who can do a 'good job'.

Possibly if it was football related. Also, if it had been more than a punch up.

No idea as it is not likely to happen, we don't have a chip on our shoulder.....
