Cleaning Lamp Shades?

I know you can clean lamp shades with fabric softener and water. But since I am out of fabric softener. Does anyone know of any other basic house hold item that will clean them without leaving dirty marks?

    try the sticky rollers to get lint off of your clothes

    Go to any auto section in your store and buy Tuff Stuff (It is used to clean car upholstry) but I have used it to clean lamps shades. It comes in a foam and you spready it on with a sponge and when dry you just vacuum the shade. Good Luck!!
