Thoughts on a poem about thoughts, please?

fugitive thoughts

escaping from justice

refusing to be

held captive

within cage of

reasoned mind

flailing about

with butterfly net

unsuccessfully

reining them in

one flew over

the cuckoo's nest

ungrounded

unguarded

and free

That is just the way my thoughts are sometimes. You hit the nail on the head! Great poem.

Fortunately one cannot be arrested or convicted for ones thoughts, but can write about these eccentric thoughts and be critically acclaimed.

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was a great book/film.

This seems to be about finding and becoming beauty outside the cage of ones customary ways of thinking about self, others and life -- ways that some might regard as strange, but bring breezes upon which ones wings of exploration and fulfillment can soar.

Fly away. Fulfill your needs. Peace.

my father says the three stanza speak of three conditions/ circumestances of a state of imprisonment.. the three are bitter and undesirable .. but there still preference on the basis of degree of freedom in each state.

the first stanza speaks of [the fugitive].. free in motion but haunted by loosing his freedom cautious in every move. this is the most bitter choice.

the second speaks of [babylon] .. locked up in a cell .. trying to escape and regain freedom...

the third speaks of [one flew over the cuckoo's nest].. free with bunch of nuts.. haunted by loosing sanity.

    Good write ms. ma.

I like it, but you should write essay or freeverse, because its not exactly poetic, other than the subject matter. I find myself writing on the same subject(s) too, its just a way to show the cycle that life takes and the way that our minds work in a circle almost- we are not alone but lonely, is a great example of that... Keep writing!!

That speaks to me, of me as I am overwhelmed by the input from words that I often read in this category.

A confusion of thoughts, like trying to collate a book by hand in a strong wind.

An agitation of the pagination. lol

    Then my answer.

From the back of my mind to the tip of my tongue, to whatever dribbles out of my typing finger, if I think about it, it is gone.

If only I could type at the speed of thought.

How many thoughts a minute can you type ma?

I am learning a bit more every time I peek in here, thanks to all.

  • That was me, ma...

...one day I am going to land smack in the middle of that nest as the cuckoos dinner..
