Desperately need help uploading a video to youtube?

I have been trying for about three hours to upload a video from Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 to youtube.... it just won't work - either it says the file cannot be converted, or the file is too small. I have tried everything I can possibly think of... tried a ton of different formats.... but it's just not working. I really need to upload this video tonight as there is a deadline so please help me!!!

Update:

Well I have tried .avi, .mp4, .wmv, .mpg

I have also tried a few templates such as DVD NTSC Video Stream and DVD Pal as well as the default. But none of them work!

Update 2:

Bill I've tried that as well, but the video just comes up as a black screen with a length of like 5 secs, there's not even any audio on there.

Please does anybody have any more suggestions?

Update 3:

Um I don't know how to change the resolution but tbh I don't think it will make any difference. I still haven't managed to do it but thanks for trying.

Update 4:

I'VE HAD A BREAKTHROUGH: I have now managed to get the audio onto Windows Movie Maker, but the video isn't showing? Does anybody know how to fix that?

whats the extension of the file youre trying to upload?

    edit:

Tried 640x480 resolution? Mpeg2 or Mpeg4 are probably best codecs to use.. and MP3 audio codec (44.1kHz)

try putting the movie on windows movie maker. then save it as a movie file (.mov) , then upload it to youtube.
