LDS and Posthumus baptism?

I have no desire to be baptised LDS after I'm dead. I really find that disturbing. Isn't that a desecration? How does one opt out of such a thing while one is still alive?

Relax, it's done by proxy and you have the option to except it or not. If you are all that creeped out about it you can contact the Church headquarters and request that your name be put on a "no ordinances" list. Many Jewish people have done this.

Well, I agree with you, and I for one am glad there's a "no ordinances" list that someone mentioned in another answer. But I'd really like to know how that works, I mean do they give a person's name who doesn't want to have that baptism to all the Mormon temples or is it just the main one in Salt Lake City? Who makes sure those requests are honored? I mean, generations from now (if Jesus doesn't return in the meantime) somebody could be Mormon and track down my name as an ancestor. So it would be nice to know how careful they are about this.

Reminds me of the question "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to...."

I certainly wouldn't lose sleep over it, if I were you. Write a strongly worded letter and send it to Salt Lake if that helps you regain peace of mind.

simply put it in your last will and testament that you do not want this to happen. If your family members are Mormon, tell them that you do not want to be baptized into the Mormon Church after your dead. Let all your family members know you want no part of it.

Why make an issue of it? You're dead, they're dead in their sins. It is an empty, hollow, and meaningless ritual.
